cold sore like blisters
It's a form of sunburn I'm sure Artyone. I haven't been sunburned since taking MTX but when I have got sunburned that's what happens to me sometimes regardless of the drugs.
Which meds are you on? I was at the practice nurse this morning having my bloodpressure taken and I showed her this weirdly big spot that isn't a spot above my lip and said "this is my latest MTX spot" - it's a bit like a cross between an insect bite and a blister and they come and go but are especially widespread in the days following my MTX dosage. She nodded and said it's because my immune system is compromised by the drugs which can affect the pores of our skin too. TTx
hi tilda, thats a good bit of information you said there,as i keep getting what i thought was gnat bites, did,nt think it could be related to the drugs, thank you, sue x
Hi Artyone
If it is the sun/ sun-sensitive medication that's caused this you might be interested in looking at the response and links I gave to someone yesterday that was talking about sun sensitivity. I think it could also be worth trying to see your doctor or a pharmacist today if you can for suggestions on how to treat this and confirmation of what the likely cause is. Here's a link to yesterday's post:

Hope that helps

Another thought - perhaps the sunscreen you used on your lips was more like Vaseline and actually cooked the skin on your lip? I suggest this because it has happened to me in the past when I've used lip balms. TT
I feel your pain!!i have always suffered with cold sore that are now much worse thanks to the mxt. I e been back to my gp who has prescribed a low level antibiotic called oxyteracyclasine.it has really helped.i also use carmex to tear my sores as soon as I feel the swelling and this works beefed than anything prescribed ive ever tried.ice on the sores also helps to kill the core xx
