Good afternoon everyone. This is my second day reducing from 15mg Pred' to 10mg and I have what feels like a cold.(started today,) Headache, feeling hot and flushed so decided to take two paracetamol. My feeling is that this is to do with withdrawal, am I correct in thinking this ? Thank you, Kind regards

Total thyroidectomy and the flu jab
Hi, I am 60 years old, I had a total thyroidectomy 2 years ago because of a substernal goitre and take Levothyroxine. When I contacted my GP practice to arrange my very first flu jab, the receptionist told me that my profile hadn’t flagged up on their system and therefore I wouldn’t be getting an invite

No flu jabs available
I just went to the doctors to get my flu jab. They said that there were no flu jabs available for anyone under 65 even with pre existing health conditions, this is by government orders. I checked this out with several local pharmacies and it is correct. I am 60 with COPD, I feel like I am being thrown

A step toward a universal flu vaccine.
Each year, the flu vaccine has to be redesigned to account for mutations that the virus accumulates, and even then, the vaccine is often not fully protective for everyone. Researchers at MIT and the Ragon Institute of MIT, MGH, and Harvard are now working on strategies for designing a universal flu

Troublesome cough can be treated without disrupting the protective cough, shows study.
Researchers might be able to treat a troublesome cough in disease without disrupting the protective cough we need for optimal lung health, by targeting the different brain circuits involved. That's according to new research published this week in The Journal of Physiology. More people seek medical advice

Bad cold
Not been able to run for 2weeks. Have had a bad cold and still blocked up. So fed up I feel like all my hard work over the last few months has gone. Any advice on how long to run on recovery I am sure I will not make 30 minutes. Do you have to be breaving normally before you try to run again

Flu jab????
Hi, I have Lupus SLE and usually don't have a flu jab, as in the past it has always caused flare ups, but due to covid I'm wondering whether to have one this year and suffer the flare, as I do realise if I was unfortunate to get flu and covid i would be in trouble. Just wondering if anyone has experienced

Back in hospital
Back in hospital with pneumonia and it came on very suddenly. Was in A&E for 12 hours before they could get me a bed. Feeling quite sad as I was getting on very well after my LVR operation and had an appointment on Thursday for a lung function test and seeing the consultant but I assume this now be cancelled

Almost 2 year-long cold
Hi All! I have had this cold for almost 2 years and i mention it to my rheumys but they always say ‘oh it’s probably just a cold’ or don’t acknowledge it whatsoever. At first I thought maybe i am just catching different colds being on immunosuppressants and all but obviously this year there was a significant

Users of blood pressure medicine have a lower risk of dying from influenza and pneumonia.
Drugs to lower blood pressure of the type ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers reduce the mortality rate of influenza and pneumonia. This is the main conclusion of a new reassuring study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, which Christian Fynbo Christiansen and

Cold Weather Warm ups
OK so as the weather gets a bit colder how do you manage your warm up walks. Once I get running I'm warm enough - but here on exposed slopes of Yorkshire you can get pretty cold on a windy/rainy winters day. Trouble is I'd cook and turn into a ball of sweat if I kept wearing a cosy layer ideal for
