Jabs and other things.....

Hi my lovelies, hope you are all keeping safe and well as possible. Had my Pneumonia jab couple of days ago, all went well just felt tired (nothing new there then!). Having flu jab wednesday, my first one so wondered if anyone had any problems with it? I have ILD, on steroids and have other health probs as well (worst being depression at the moment). Breathing seems to be getting worse lately and its a bit worrying. Am waiting for a recall to Papworth Hospital as they are trying to get my dosage of meds right so bit anxious about it all.

Anyway, many thanks for the wonderful posts on here, we have some real stars who make me laugh when I most need it. I also have my 2 cats and 2 dogs helping me as well as my long-suffering husband, bless him.

Love and hugs my friends

Penny xxx

My wife, daughter and I have the flu vaccine every year. Normally my daughter and wife sail through the period following vaccination and I have the mild flu like symptoms for 48 hours after. However this year I had no problems other than an ache in the muscle around the injection site. You could possibly get some mild symptoms following the jab however compared to flu they are a walk in the park. Keep well.

That's interesting. My mum had her flu vaccine a few days ago and normally has no after effects, but this time her arm is quite painful, to the extent of stopping her sleeping. I haven't had mine yet so can't compare notes. I normally do get a very sore arm 🤔 i wonder if it will be worse this year or maybe I'll have no effects. Anyway I imagine the over 65s and under 65s vaccines are different.

My daughter is 47 and paidfor her vacc this year. First time ever she has a sore arm. Not me though.

Hi Kimlu.

I have had no problems at all with the flu vacc and have been having it since 1979. With all of your problems I would say that you need its protection.

Good luck with everything and a big hug.

Hi Kimlu, I can say that Pete generally has a sore arm and sometimes feels a bit off colour for a few days but nothing we can’t cope with. The flu jab is essential for us both.

Sending good wishes to you and hugs. Xxx😘

I had mine yesterday feel a bit tired today and a bit of a sore arm but nothing unusual. I do think a few days of side effects is worth the protection flu is awful and a killer stay safe

Hi Penny,

Mostly I don't get a reaction other than a sore arm for a few days, I've been having them since 2004 and during that time only had a reaction once. I just felt off a few days with that one.

You will probably be fine, even if you did get a reaction it will pass and you will have better protection this year against the seasonal bugs. we still have to take all precautions of course.

Best wishes

ps, it may be the time of year when breathing worsens a little, I know my lungs are off with the wind and damp we are having currently. Keep using the inhalers as prescribed.

No sore arm this time but was told to stay away from anyone with cold symptoms as it takes 2 weeks to produce anti bodies

Thank you, I will bear this in mind x

probably stay away from anyone with cold or flu symptoms always is a good idea even with the flu jab - keep safe and well x

Hi Kimlu, My flu jab left me with a sore arm; my husband escaped with no symptoms at all.

I don't know whether your reaction shows how vulnerable you would be to that strain of flu.
