Hi I’ve had lupus for many years and have been on hydroxychloroquine for ten years , i went to have my annual flu jab yesterday at my local chemist and was told I’m not allowed an nhs flu jab as hydroxychloroquine is off the list , so i payed the money and had the flu jab , its not about the money I thought the nhs were trying to encourage more people to have the flu jab.
Lupus flu jab: Hi I’ve had lupus for many years and... - LUPUS UK
Lupus flu jab
That's absolute rubbish 😡 you qualify for a flu jab simply by having lupus.i was sent a letter by my gp and i have mine tomorrow at a drive thru..search flu vaccine on the lupus uk home page and it tells you.you may also qualify on the grounds of cancer as radiation therapy weakens your immune system. X
There are some very strange things being said about the flu jab this year - a GP practice told someone who had been shielding they didn't qualify as they were only 61 - where in fact it is to be available to all over 50s this year although they may have to wait until nearer xmas. She did get it at the pharmacy ...
Maybe worth calling the local CCG - as well as speaking to your GP practice. In the great scheme of things £10 isn't much for lots of us but for some it is simply too much. And that is wrong when someone patentaly qualifies because of their a/i disorder.
Surely it’s not about the medication your on but the illness that qualifies you for the flue jab. I would certainly take it up with CCG.
Hi ... that’s strange I’ve just been prescribed the med and discussing with the pharmacist the flu jab ... he asked me if I’d booked my appointment- I hadn’t but he said that his new stocks are due in any day and he would put me in the list as it is very important people with lupus have it and particularly now more than ever. He didn’t mention the drugs or any lists.
I would take the matter further with CCG.
I just got my jag yesterday free no probs even got a letter this year and all my family to get them too just youngest to get hers in school now
