Ready to stop, how to set a date and best methods of support?
Hi guys, I am new to this site, I am Ashton and I am hoping to
quit
smoking
soon! I was just wondering what is the best approach when choosing your quit date? Also what did people find we're the best methods in order to help them stop?

NRT lozenges. what are the withdrawal symtoms of these?
After two weeks off work with a dreadful chest infection and after over 40 years of
smoking
, I
quit
, I've had enough, I want to break free (there's a song in there somewhere). Whilst picking up my prescription for anti-biotics I picked up a packet of NRT lozenges and thought, Let's do it.

21 one days and counting
I made the conscious choice to
quit
smoking
on Jan 1rst not as a resolution but just because i am getting older and my rememberer isn't what it used to be so the first seemed like the logical choice.

E-Cigarette advice please?
To get to the point, I am going for a night out tomorrow (first since I've
quit
) and i'm terrified that I'll get tipsy and start
smoking
again :-( So was thinking I might buy an E- Cigarette so that if I'm tempted I can use that instead. Does anyone else do this?

How do I climb out of this pit?
Was doing well, two years no anti depressants, when I take champix to
quit
smoking
within weeks I feel nothing is right and I have all the nasty symptoms back but far worse than I can remember.

Light smoking 'doubles sudden heart death risk in women'
For every five years of continued
smoking
, the risk went up by 8%. But women who
quit
saw their risk fall to that of someone who had never smoked, after 20 years of cessation.

Suddenly, I was ready to quit
I
quit
smoking
cold turkey 6 days ago, and it really hasn't been that bad. There are cravings, but I feel a bit more energetic, my apartment smells better, friends and family are supportive, and I am feeling more positive about everyday life.

Before you reach your quit date, try to understand what part of smoking actually satisfies you....
Only you are able to recognise and answer any of the above for yourself then you can work on the next step of moving towards your
quit
date. The key to successfully stop
smoking
and staying stopped, is all in the thinking, planning and preparing beforehand.

88% of pregnant women who tried to quit smoking started again within 4 weeks
ALMOST 90% of pregnant women referred to Glasgow's smoking cessation services went on to light up again within four weeks. Figures show the message is still not getting through to women about the dangers of prenatal smoking. A total of 1270 women were referred to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's Smokefree

My first blog, and hello to all
With the shock of it all I
quit
smoking
on the spot, but by Xmas 2011 I was smoking again, not as heavy as before, but smoking nonetheless. My smoking at present is to stop for a few weeks, then I start again.

3 weeks today
I managed to stop smoking tobacco for 3 weeks now. I started the process by using Champix which does work but did create a lot! of side effects such as really intense dreams, feeling a bit spaced out and an upset tummy. Not nauseous but not working properly. I stopped taking Champix about 3 days

DIABETES AND FOOD
Smokers are advised to
quit
as soon as possible, as
smoking
can aggravate diabetes and make it more difficult to cope with the disease. Because diabetics often experience circulation problems in the legs and feet, smoking is a dangerous habit to continue - it decreases blood flow even more.
