Lindierose - when you first joined THIS group, you didn't know anyone did you? Keep strong, but if you weaken, keep the quitsupport thing in mind - you'll soon get to know people there!

It can be difficult but we all start as strangers here and hopefully go on to be friends.

I too found it very hard but can I suggest that you try to tell yourself that you are not "giving up" something - this has all the connotations of depriving yourself and encourages self-pity

Try instead a positive approach of "I am stopping smoking". It worked for me because I started to look on the process as defeating an enemy rather than feeling sorry for myself. It still took a long time but it worked in the end.
