30 years ago but attributed the disease to his smoking habit. I was surprised that after 30 years this could still happen as all the non smoking advice advises that your lungs do heal after time.

Depression and keeping healthy
I have decided to
quit
smoking
this Monday and wondered what it was that had made me decide to quit now and not in the last 5 years. I have been depressed since my late teens (am now 53) and in my 20's found the "joy" of being able to get drunk and forget how I was feeling.

Plain Packaging approved by House of Lords!
Controversial regulations enforcing standardised tobacco packaging will come into effect next year after they were approved by the House of Lords. Peers agreed the move without a vote after MPs overwhelmingly backed the move last week . Tory Lord Naseby led the fight against the plans in the Lords, but

Depression / feeling low
Well, got to over 2 months and had terrible flu which actually helped compound my feelings about smoking. NOPE Stopped all the patches and gum, then I began to feel very miserable, very low. Full of negative thoughts. I then actually went back to having a 2mg gum in the mornings and it just seems to

You guys are awesome!
Hi all and thanks for the kind words and support, it has truly meant a great deal. So, I've been smoke free since Wednesday 4pm (not that I'm counting) and I go through many ups and downs per day. I haven't killed anyone, which is an improvement on last time (kidding), but my teeth itch and my hands

Is Vaping just you still smoking kind of?
Ok Alot of my friends/family have stopped smoking ciggarettes (yay I am so pleased they're not inhaling all those nasty chemicals) but instead have opted to vape. I understand stopping the nicotine addiction is hard and opting to still have nicotine in your system by inhaling it threw vaper seems like

Beware, a ‘non-communicable’ disease may be socially infectious
I don't think this news will be at all surprising to anyone who has tried to lose weight or
quit

when their partner has not joined in...

New Pathways Part 6 (I'm beginning to lose count)
Gee, isn't that our
quit
smoking
mantra? I have learnt that shutting the door on smoking & remaining steadfast & resolute works for a time, but managing levels of brain chemistry & developing alternative neural pathways for dealing with adversity are vital for permanent success in quitting

CANCER? KISS OF DEATH?
In part no doubt due to the fact that I have
quit
smoking
and drink only at parties now. but mainly I think my change of diet and attitude have helped.

Why can't I cough that horrible stuff up?
I
quit

110 days ago!!! After almost 25 years of smoking. Yeah me!!!😊 I was wondering if anyone has experienced not coughing up any gunk and gross crap? My chest feels very heavy and tight but then again I recent caught a flu bug😷.

I had smoked for 40 years and totally enjoyed it, but when the Doctor told me I had emphysema starting to get worse I quit smoking asap.
cannot understand how a person could continue to smoke with that illness unless your tired of life. I'm not ready to go so I am working on controlling it, and believe me I did enjoy my smokes. Some day when the end is very close I am going to smoke a couple for old times sake,

18th day no nicotine at all
HI there, after using NRT in the passed unsuccessfully. i have also tried champix that had horrible side effects for me, I tried "the easyway to stop smoking" by Dr Allen Carr. It's a very good book that actually encourages you to smoke whilst reading the book, unless you have aiready stopped smoking
