Hey everyone hope all of you on this forum are well and putting their best feet fwd. In resolving some issues we all have. My particular issue is being only 51 and looking to have a double lung transplant at my young age. Which not only do I suffer my lung issues but it's brought ne anxiety depression and mortality issues. I was Dx. Mar.2011 smoker and in denial. After my prognosis, I foolishly smoked cig. An additional year. In 2012 I started the eblucigs. I figured no smoke in lungs, tar tobacco or 100's of chemicals they put in reg. Smokes the ecigs was my best bet. Since I do t drink do anything party like I enjoy my smokes. So I started with eblu. I was taking to them like no problem. Feeling that where I git nicotine I still didn't consider myself to be a "actual smoker" . These past few weeks I haven't even been able to smoke the e cig cause I been so ill. I went to see my dr. Last week and he said he wanted me to be evaluated for a lung trans. But u do need to be nicotine free for 6 mon. To be considered. Well they wanna see me at end of Aprul. Still not time enuff to be nicotine free. Idk what to do now. Been reading all these articles that say ecigs flavored not ref tobacco flav. Have to have the nicotine placed in the flavors like cherry and peach vanilla etc. So one article said this is a diff time of nicotine that will leave my body a mon. To 6 weeks. And drink lots of orange juice to cleanse system. I can not be denied this operation in as it is my life at sake. I don't feel an urge to smoke as it is now, but it's getting past indiscretions outa me so I can carry on with this operation. Any suggestions and offerings of luck and hope wull much be accepted and appreciated...Thank you kindly day for reading my problem at hand. SHARE 22
A little about who I am...my name is Sharon a... - Quit Support
A little about who I am...my name is Sharon and I suffer from severe COPD, at this time I am testing for lung trans. I'm only 51 too young.
Hiya Sharon, I googled a bit about how long nicotine takes to leave your system and it's rather confusing I agree. If your app is at the end of April and by then you're nicotine free for about 6 weeks, it could be possible that you'll test negative by then. Some are saying 3 weeks and drink lots of water before hand. I wish I had a better answer for you but if you're cold turkey at this stage you're giving yourself the best possible chance. I'm sending you lots of stay positive vibes and hoping your tests go well for you 😊 Big hugs as well 💞xx
Hiya Sharon,
I am bit like Briar, it is confusing information on how long it takes nicotine to leave your body. I too thought it was only a few weeks.
I sure hope every thing works out for you, sending lots of strength vibes and hugs your way💐 🌸 🌸
Hey Sharon, two things....
1. First of all, having just checked your post history, I am ever so sorry for completely missing your original post 😟 Please accept my apologies
2. Secondly, huge, huge hugs and welcomes to our online stop smoking family, a place where you can find a ton of love, laughs and a heap of support from others who have been or are sharinging a similar journey
Right, let's help you on your way to getting sorted 😄 👍
COPD is such a debilitating lung disease and can turn lives upside down. However, stopping smoking will stop the disease from progressing any further, and it's never too late to quit.
With regards to nicotine, it only takes 2 days to leave your body - I have heard that if you up your intake of vitamin C, then this helps the nicotine to be depleted much faster.
Many folks use NRT (Nicotine Replacement a Therapy) to help curb their cravings during the first few months of quitting. This uses just a minimal amount of nicotine and does not contain all the other additional toxins that cigarettes do.
I would recommend that you speak to somebody at your local stop smoking service, or at your GP surgery with regards to being prescribed an NRT product (or two) and put all your energy into turning your whole life around so that you can begin to move forward.
If you receive the extra help and support and use a prescribed NRT then you are four times more likely to stay quit. Plus we'll help you all we can from this end😄
If you would like me to find out where your local service is based or refer you into them, then please send me a private message and I'll make the arrangements for you. We may even be able to arrange a home visit from them to you.
I am more than happy to see whether your GP surgery offers this service, although I'm sure they may have already told you about this.
The sooner you stop, the better. However, it is important that you understand that initially you will feel that your COPD will worsen, this will only be temporary. There are nasty chemicals in tobacco smoke that numb and widen your airways, allowing more smoke to pass down into your lungs. As you have COPD you will feel that this helps you to breath more easily, ii Italy it us, but in reality it's just slowly killing you.
Nobody said it would be easy, but most people say that it is worth it.
Let us help you to win this battle, but please remember - you are not alone 😉
Aup Sharon, I'm sorry but I cant help you any more than the Girls have already
Ermm, just wandering, if you've tried the zero nicotine liquid you put into the e-cig cos if you could get on with that, then surely the nicotine will be out of your body by the time of your app
Am sending you loads and loads of good luck vibes and loads and loads of warm hopeful huggs too
Sharon, if you could please let me have your quit date, then I can sort you a Winners badge out Thankyouuuuuu
