With humility and respect, some PMR lessons learned
- I am finding that with the cessation of
prednisone
, some of my osteoarthritis symptoms are a little more severe. I think
prednisone
, even low doses, must mask some of the osteoarthritis symptoms. - Keep reading the posts on this site.

Masks during moderate air quality?
The last time I had an asthma flare and ended up on
prednisone
. I’m hoping to avoid that this time and wondering if masks help. Or does anyone have advice on tips to mitigate moderate air quality? Thanks!

not pmr again
As I posted, my GP suggested that I hold off taking
prednisone
over the weekend to see if the symptoms disappeared. And they did!

Cough, chest pressure, GCA
If so, it seems the
prednisone
would have calmed this by now. Any thoughts are appreciated. This forum has been helpful to me. Thank you!

Increasing Prednisone to 40 mg?
My GP has suggested that I increase my
prednisone
from 35 mg to 40 mg before my first rheumatologist appointment on May 16. Her suggestion was in response to pain in my right temple and scalp tingling. I don’t have a lot of faith in this GP as she is uncommunicative with no rapport.

Prednisone
from 5mg to 4g daily and adding 20mg hydrocortisone.

Help with tapering Prednisone
I started on
Prednisone
at 12.5mg then reduced to 10 mg and have been told to reduce by 1mg per month. Is this a realistic target?I did manage to get it down to 7mg but ended up having a massive flare up so have had to up it to 8/9 mg again.

Prednisone and kidneys
I was diagnosed with PMR in July 2023 and have been on
prednisone
ever since, although I have tapered down from 15 mg a day to 13 mg, and will be tapering further down to 12 in the next week or so.
