Prednisone

Does everyone take prednisone? I take it everyday 5 MG per day. Suppose to all my life. Just curious if anyone has heard of any success of someone not taking medications everyday or stopping prednisone all together?? That would be the dream.

Stopping Prednisone

I'm taking everolimus, mycophenolic acid and prednisone. The prednisone is causing weight gain, diabetes and, possibly, hair loss. I tapered down to 5 mg of prednisone over two years ago. I'm now wondering whether I can reduce further or even stop.

Prednisone - A Drug You Need But Lookout!

I was diagnosed with PMR July 2021 and immediately put on 40mg of Prednisone. By November, I had 2 torn rotator cuffs - both orthopedic dr and rheumatologist agree that the Prednisone “helped” this to happen.

Abiraterone+prednisone and incontinence

Since the day I started Abiraterone+prednisone my incontinence became worse. I had heard from someone that they take their prednisone in the evening and have had some better results - can anyone here weigh in on this?

Long term prednisone use

I have been on various doses of prednisone for one year now to help control my ITP. My hematologist has tried Promacta and prednisone. When my prednisone dosage was down to 5 mg with 75 mg of Promacta my platelet counts tanked. Presently I am on NPlate and 10 mg of prednisone.

No prednisone with Diverticulitis

The doctors said they understand my concern but taking prednisone could result in a further increase in possible diverticulitis infection and lead to surgery. They said they would monitor my progress on IV antibiotics and ‘possibly’ allow me to resume prednisone in 48 hours.

Why not just stay on prednisone instead of taking a biologic

I have had flairs which prednisone has handled. Now he wants to put me on Cimzia to try and get me off the prednisone. In what I have read, 10 mg of prednisone is not considered a high dose.

Prednisone

Can anyone explain to me how 50 mg of prednisone a day for 5 days can elevate symptoms (inflammation in nasal passages) for months?

Back again and on prednisone

Was able to get down to 1.5 dosage of prednisone slowly. Then the pain came back. Up to 5 mg. of prednisone now and think I need more because my hips hurt when I walk for over a week. Didn't want to call dr. so he would up the meds. What is your opinion of my situation?

STRESS INJURIES R/T PRED

I read prednisone can cause strain on tendons and ligaments. I can imagine the healing process is slowed. Never had these kind of issues before. Status update: 14mg prednisone. Started taper this week. Rheumatologist did not seem concerned by elevated CRP/ESR. See my last post.

Touching base 2 years after joining this community.

In January of this year I totally tapered off the prednisone and realised how much it was affecting me in the late afternoons as I could now walk reasonably well- I took the prednisone in the evening and for 2 hours either side of when my prednisone was due I was literally taking steps 10cm long due

The dr put me on prednisone but suggested I see a rheumatologist. I did see one and he said continue the prednisone. I was put on 10mg the first month 5mg in am and 5 in Pm. I am now weened off the prednisone. Was told to reduce the dose 1 mg per month.
