Hi and welcome,
For some lucky ones almost immediately, but for others longer, and fully under control a matter of weeks... so have patience my friend, 😊
Maybe have a look at this.. and just because you are on medication doesn't mean every has disappeared.. but you may need a little more or a little longer than some... just monitor how things progress over the coming days - and let us know.

keep to hand as it makes more sense as you get to know your illness and its quirks.
Good morning, I started my first dose today diagnosed yesterday, I hope you get some relief, and welcome to the recovery journey.

Hi and welcome!
It depends - you will respond to an ADEQUATE dose, it has to be enough. And how long will also vary.. Some people need more than 15mg, many take up to a week or more to get a good result especially with a lower dose. A study found that 75% of patients will respond to a starting dose in a month. Doctors often expect a result immediately but don't give the patient enough to get the quick result. I was given 15mg and had a minor miracle in under 6 hours. Others have needed up to 25mg and still took days to respond. And if you do respond well and soon - don't rush back to do all the things you haven't been able to do or you will wake up feeling as if you have relapsed! Lifestyle changes may be needed too for a really good management of symptoms - remember, this isn't a cure. It is a management strategy.
thank you all for your kind support I’m a bit of a worrier and when I didn’t have any improvement I overthink things fingers crossed things improve Thanks again
It took me 15 hours 22 minutes to get back into the land of the living!
I didn’t get immediate relief when first I took prednisolone. Was started at 20mg, and GP upped that to 30mg to clear out all the accumulated inflammation. Stayed at 30 mg for three weeks before starting to taper down slowly.
I’m afraid you need to learn to have lots and lots of patience with pmr - you can’t have enough of it!
Good luck.
it took me 3 days to get out of bed by myself, and then a very long time to get rid of “most” of the pain. 2 months later my upper left arm was still painful; the rheumy said “oh, you’ve got a very bad case then.” Hang in there; you, too, shall get better!
You may need more milligrams and/or more time..don't fret too much yet. And welcome to this wonderful forum!
Just to say hello and good luck. All the advice on here is so helpful and supportive. Finally diagnosed yesterday and first dose administered. The people on here know what they are doing. It will give you confidence and calm fears. Hope it doesn't take too long before you get the result you need.
15mg was not quite enough for the start of my journey, it slightly kicked in at 5pm. When increased to 20mg much better the magic pill worked. Be in no hurry to reduce your dose, otherwise you will have to start all over again. Took 3 and half years to come completely off. This forum is a godsend of likeminded people and appreciated their advice.
I had almost immediate relief after taking 15mg of Pred, withing 4 hours I was back to normal. But the recovery is slow, my doctor said 12 months but it was 4 years before I was on zero pred and no symptoms. Thankfully it has been 3 months now. There is an end of this tunnel, some reach it quicker than others. My advice is do not rush, get it under control and then slowly does it.
took me 5 hours to feel some kind of change was happening and 2 or 3 days to feel almost like before. Good luck! We’re all here for you.
