It seems people only go to the GP when they are at rock bottom or seriously ill. I think you would get targeted help from a GP referral to see a physio who would give sensible exercises as when we reach a certain age - that’s me too we can do more harm than good cutting back food we need and exercising too much . They will also give you the basics to do with nutrition. GPs are generally interested in those who want to self help . I think you would really benefit from professional guidance and relate your experiences on here .
I'm not sure I can be much help. I've only been on Prednisone for short periods of time although sometimes it's one after the other after the other. I have had trouble with weight gain every time and it's not easy to get the weight off. I've been prediabetic a couple of times. When that happens, I cut sugar out of my diet as much as I can and so far, that's allowed me to lose some weight and drop below the prediabetic level. My largest sugar intake comes from juices and sodas, so I just switch to ice water. I don't know if any of this helps, but whether it does or not I hope you find your way to the right solution for you. Best wishes.
Thankyou for your advice & I have been reducing sugar intake & have no added sugar products , have got blood test booked 1 mths time ! Waiting to have appointment to discuss issues 🙄 wether that happens im not sure at all !
Hi jeanette-bkworms, and thank you for your support.
A few things have changed since you were last on the Weight Loss Support forum, and I've added a link to all our active groups below - including our Read All About It group (Just guessing from your name and bio 📚)
Hopefully being able to share with others those times at least when you have to reel in the sugar will help, and it sounds like you are a good source of support too.
If you need any further info on the changes, just give us a shout, other than that, good luck and thanks again
Thankyou all , as majority people here struggling with health issues plus ageing- I really want advice on weight loss I have ordinary meals with basic ingredients which a late family member had being type diabetic 11 (no meds.) - but now me a Widow & no pets to keep you busy & motive doesn't help, I do some gardening & or walk around village with hills Ihr. most days if body allows !
