Crp and ESR still elevated!
Hello, I have been diagnosed with UCTD and synovitis in both hands and I’m currently on
prednisone
20mg Plaquenil 200mg 2x, Savella 50mg, Gabapentin 400mg. With all that my Crp and esr are both at 41 and I’m still in pain and very fatigued. I’ve been on these meds since May 2024.

Prednisone alternative for Glaucoma patients
For those with Glaucoma,
Prednisone
may not be good for you. For steroid responders,
Prednisone
can increase your Intra Ocular Pressure leading to more damage to your retina fiber, losing more of your vision.

Finally, at zero prednisone...still Actemra~!
I remained on .5 mg of
prednisone
until I returned from Maine and unpacked. I stopped pred on June 27; so far, so good. I started this GCA journey in August of 2019 at the ripe age of 78, this September, I will turn 84....so much for Grammy 80!!

question
I started tapering
prednisone
10 one day 5 the next for 4 weeks starting 25/6 and since Thursday all of my symptoms are back well my pleural effusion is definitely back with a vengeance. Could this be down to the reduction?

Cautious Optimism
It’s a far cry from starting out in massive PMR pain that initially left me essentially bed-ridden until discovering the wonders of 20mg + of
prednisone
! I’m now able to hike 5 or more miles many days over hilly terrain without pain.

Pregnancy and steriods
I was discharged with a steroid pump and more oral
prednisone
. I have used
prednisone
as part of my ivf protocol albeit a lower dosage. I am a bit nervous to take this as I am worried about the impact on the baby. What are your thoughts? Anyone being in a similar position? Thank you!

Stiff neck!
I was fortunate, and successfully ended my
prednisone
taper on April 1 (it just seemed a good day to stop!). Over the last week I have developed severe neck stiffness. The pain level is starting to approach the original PMR pain level. I do not have significant pain elsewhere.

Finally, weaning off prednisone after 15 years.
I saw rheumatologist today and he advised trying to finally get off of the 5mg.
prednisone
. Rheum. told me that GCA often comes back (about 80% if the time). What science does not know is how often it comes back after a stem cell transplant. My entire immune system was wiped out.

GCA Heart Issues
If so, shouldn’t the
prednisone
be relieving these symptoms? Any thoughts/suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you!

Change of treatment
Yesterday saw Rhemy at hospital, he went over my record saw the number of times I have tried to come of
prednisone
so is instigating new medication with a view on coming of
prednisone
. HE IS LOOKING TO GET ME STARTED ON METHOTREXATE . Has anyone any thoughts on the suggested way forward .

With humility and respect, some PMR lessons learned
- I am finding that with the cessation of
prednisone
, some of my osteoarthritis symptoms are a little more severe. I think
prednisone
, even low doses, must mask some of the osteoarthritis symptoms. - Keep reading the posts on this site.

cortisone shot while on prednisone
He said it shouldn’t impact my
prednisone
tapering since it’s very localized. Should I be fine going ahead with it. I suspect that my higher
prednisone
dosages were helpful in masking the hip issues. Thank you all for great advice
