A day of lasts

It has taken me some time to write this... but I hope my husband’s journey with MPN is perceived overall a message hope to others. He was diagnosed with PV aged 46 and had a great quality of life for 28 years ,needing only phlebotomy -initially weekly but eventually every six weeks or so . He progressed

Zolendronic acid transfusion for osteoporosis
The side effects listed for this treatment are horrid. I am very small and less than 48 kilos in weight. What are others’ experiences with this chemotherapy drug?

Liver Hemosiderosis
Anyone find after transplant that their liver has iron deposits from transfusions that were done at transplant? It is called liver hemosiderosis (iron overload) and was just identified with MRI elastography now 4 years from transplant. The fibrosis score is 3.2 and is considered stage1-2 fibrosis. No

Anyone else suspect hypothyroidism for the cause of heavy periods, fibroids, dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia?
I,ve got my first proper gynae appointment on Monday, after suffering from extremely heavy periods, dysmenorrhea since my cycle changed last February. I became severely anaemic as I was losing so much blood, with longer periods and less time in between them (went from regular 28 days to 10-14) I have

Don't assume what you can't do during chemo!
I know a lot of people do struggle with chemo, and need hospitalizations, transfusions, and so forth. On the other hand such struggles are not guaranteed, and I hope this post shows that chemo can work and be mostly tolerable for others. Yesterday was my umpteenth chemo infusion. I'm onto my fourth

Pre screening for the clinical trial. I didn't know what I didn't know.
this past Thursday I was eligible to be pre screened for the clinical trial, I am now in that category, at least temporarily because it was determined I am anemic, I am scheduled for a transfusion next week to bring my count up. I am in between chemo, as well i have extensive bone Mets and luckily

I’ve just been diagnosed with grade 2 adenocarcinoma 9 years after an EMR . It was found on my 3 yearly endoscopy which was 10 months late due to COVID. To say I’m devastated is an understatement. Can you give me a pep talk and tell me to put my “ big girls pants on” Monday for treatment plan and an

Stage 4 Lung Cancer
On 18.01.20 my Dad received his first immunotherapy treatment for stage 4 lung cancer which has metastasised. On 19.01.20 my Dad received a blood transfusion, 2 pints of blood, as his hb level was 87. Since 18.01.20, going into 8 days now, my Dad hasn’t eaten properly and I am seriously concerned.

which is helping to maintain these low counts but not improve them. Would love to hear from those who’ve had similar experiences, what treatments have you tried? Anything new on the horizon?

One for Prof Harrison via Maz?
While I was having my transfusion today I overheard a nurse telling a patient that if they were on any type of immunosuppressive treatment that that should be discontinued before receiving covid vaccine. I am taking 20mg Ruxolitinib twice daily and have a consistently low white count with neutrophils
