Some clarification please, are B12 folate And iron deficiency Competeting anemia's?
hi everyone, I just wanted to ask a question as I think I understand this but am not 100% sure, If you have B12 deficiency, folate deficiency, and iron deficiency all togeather which I think could also be, microcytic, macrocytic, and iron deficiency anemia, do they compete with each to give false

Paper: elevated b12 bound to immunoglobulins masking B12 deficiency
Latest paper from Wolffenbuttel of "The many faces of cobalamin deficiency" fame. Fascinating! https://casereports.bmj.com/content/15/1/e247660.long (full text available) Abstract: In clinical practice, the finding of an elevated serum B12 concentration is often the consequence of supplementation

Association of maternal urinary fluoride concentrations during pregnancy with size at birth & potential mediation effect by maternal thyroid
Relatively unusually, I'm posting this partly because of the "it's not thyroid" aspect! We have had many, many posts regarding fluoride and whether, how, it might affect the thyroid gland and thyroid hormone levels. The fact that the increased birth size and weight in this study appear not to be due

Hashimoto's and Anaemia - anyone tried IV iron infusion?
Hi all, Recently had full blood tests done as advised on this board :) and T4 and T3 were both high end of normal range, so "optimal", and the only flag was that my iron was low - ferritin of 21 when GP feels 125-150 would be ideal. I'm so exhausted all the time and devastated about how limited I am

I don't know what to do :(
I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid back in 2018. I assume it's autoimmune related as my anti body score was 410.8 but it's never been stated as such. My mum also has an underactive thyroid which I think is the main reason they started me on levothyroxin in the first place; 2 years before in

Co-trimoxazole
hi Trying to find out who else takes Co-Trimoxazole? I have been taking it since August 2021 , I pill daily, along with Prednisolone. I am currently reducing Pred. 1mg per month, now on 6mg. I regularly ask my consultant if I need to keep taking and he says yes. Any comments would be appreciated.

This might be of interest for anyone who struggles to raise their iron levels or is frequently anaemic or nearly anaemic
I should point out that this paper is old. It was first published in 2000. The second thing I want to point out is that it has 176 references, which to my mind is quite bizarre, but some of them could be of interest. And thirdly, the link is to the abstract only but there is an option to "Save PDF

Pain meds after surgery and thyroid meds
Hi I'm just this evening back from bilateral hernia surgery. They've given me a bunch of pain meds and I'm wondering if I should try (pain willing) and avoid them as best I can as I think I might have read somewhere here how they can affect thyroid or other blood markers? I've been given co codamol

Neutropenia and its effects.....
I was diagnosed with lupus by my rheumatologist in 2020. Since 2016 I have had low iron levels on numerous occasions, which was initially treated with oral iron with little effect. I was eventually given an iron infusion in May 2021. This brought my iron levels up for some time, but in April this

Increased PA Symptoms and Iron Deficiency
I have no idea if what I'm experiencing is just a flare or could be possible related to my iron deficiency issues, but I figured I'd post on here to see if anyone else has had a similar experience. I was diagnosed with both PA and Iron Deficiency without Anemia at the same time. I have been doing

About Iron
I'm asking a lot of questions - sorry - but I really have to get this problem sorted out, and this is such a great place to ask questions. When I first got RLS really badly, I read up and found out about possible iron deficiency. I thought this was strange as I eat huge amounts of food with lots of

Tests for iron
Following the advice in the Mayo's clinic protocol, I asked my doctor for a full iron assessment including serum iron, ferritin, total iron-binding capacity, and percentage transferrin saturation which should be measured in the early morning after an overnight fast. She did not arrange any tests for

Before I start, this is definitely going to be a long winded one but stay with me here if you can 😂 I’m absolutely desperate for some kind of answers, advice, similar experiences - literally anything to make me feel like I’m not going completely insane. I’ve just turned 27 last month, I have 4 children

TIGHT NECK MUSCLES AND DIZZINESS
Hi, I have fibromyalgia and have recently developed tight neck muscles. I also suffer from spondylitis and arthritis. I visit an osteopath weekly and ho does dry needling and massage which does help. When the neck muscles are very tight I also seem to get IBS, Gerd, sinus problems and a zonked out

Tips for living with endo & fibromyalgia?
Wondering if anyone has any tips on how to live with both! I’m going through the process of getting diagnosed with fibro (although it is very likely as it runs in my family) and I am looking for some advise on how to manage the pain. Seems like my endo pain is setting off fibro flares too 🙃 I am in
