TIGHT NECK MUSCLES AND DIZZINESS

Hi,

I have fibromyalgia and have recently developed tight neck muscles. I also suffer from spondylitis and arthritis. I visit an osteopath weekly and ho does dry needling and massage which does help. When the neck muscles are very tight I also seem to get IBS, Gerd, sinus problems and a zonked out feeling as though I am on another planet. My GP prescribed amitriptyline and co-codamol which did help the pain but made me feel terrible. I then read that the two should not be taken together. Now I am just taking 10mg of amitriptyline nightly although I think this is causing me to be more lightheaded. Has anyone else got the same symptoms please as I would like your views.

Actually sounds a bit like migraine. You can get neck, sinus, bowel, eye problems and exhaustion sometimes without intense pain in the head.

medication is no help for fibro , a good soak in the bath few times a week , try and do some form of exercise when up to it , eat as healthily and affordably as possible , gluten free brown bread, avoid white bread , dairy milk alternatives etc , and just push on through when the pain is hellish !

Hi there, I have similar symptoms and I am taking amitriptyline every night. I try to take codeine just when the pain is very bad. Fortunately I am not experiencing side effects. Amitriptyline helps me with my sleep, I usually take it around 8pm every night and I am not groggy when I wake up. Paracetamol+caffeine is also effective for my pain, but I can take it just in the morning/early afternoon because caffeine give me jitters. I hope it helps.

I have same symptoms makes you feel dreadful. I can’t take Amitriptyline. Took it back in June and couldn’t lift my head off the pillow in the morning. Though had COVID in March and it took me 4 months to feel better. Felt dreadful with all what. Diet and exercise is helpful. I cut out caffeine. Bread. Went Gluten free. Cut out dairy and sugar. Drink plenty of water with a slice of lemon and it helps me a lot. Still get bad days but I am still able to work. Lack of sleep is a trigger also.

I have these symptoms too at the moment. I have arthritis in my neck, so I'm putting it down to the change in weather. I have been seeing an osteopath for my lower back so might book an appointment for neck and shoulders. I am on max dose of gabapentin and have recently reduced my co codamol to just 2 in the morning. I can't take ibuprofen as I am on Ramapril but do have some ibuprofen gel from gp to rub on. I hate this illness I was feeling really good Saturday and managed to do a few things then Sunday woke up like this.
