Newbie to this group (hello!), iron overload and possible PA question :/
Hello all, I'm new to this group, I have autoimmune thyroid disease, but along with it have been looking at sorting out my iron and B12, so would like to share this here, apologies for the long post... I'm new to dealing with PA, please be gentle :) Recently I've been feeling pretty crap - the usual

B12 levels and hypothyroidism
This is a useful paper showing low B12 is associated with hypothyroidism. Another paper indicating vitamin deficiency that needs treating. And that GP's should know about it. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW Front. Endocrinol., 22 February 2023 Sec. Thyroid Endocrinology Volume 14 - 2023 | https://doi.org/10.3389

Anemia of Chronic Disease
My recent CBC yielded numbers that suggested I am anemic. My iron levels are normal and my B12 is also normal, albeit in the low range of normal. I was told that I have anemia of chronic disease caused by my thyroid condition (low functioning thyoid, maybe Hashimoto's). Anyone else have experience

Request for more levothyroxine following results from Medichecks
Hi all, I’m very upset as had a conversation ( more like a shouting match to be honest) with GP who is insistent that he won’t prescribe more levothyroxine as I’m within range ( after him asking me to send a copy of my medichecks results) because on my request I stated that I should be prescribed iron

I have had right shoulder pain for weeks. The pain starts in my shoulder and then across my upper back. I have had it over the years but this time it’s been really bad. With all the problems trying to see a doctor I have just been taking co-codamol. In the end with the pain and not sleeping I managed

Best Natural Treatment for Leg Pain
My husband who has recently been diagnosed with early-stage PD gets quite bad pain in one leg at night which disturbs his sleep apart from having to get up at least twice a night to go to the loo because of an enlarged prostate. I was wondering what people here take for similar pain which I undertand

Test results - could someone help please?
Hi! My thyroid is well replaced, but I have been feeling so tired and achy, so I asked my GP to test vitamins. She said all is well. I'm gutted because I feel TERRIBLE. What do you think to these results? Serum Ferritin: 29 (r 20-204) Serum Iron Level: 11.7 (r4.4-27.9) Serum Transferrin: 2.63 (r

Hi. I've just rejoined after a few years & would love to be part of the group again. I am struggling as we all are with this terrible Fibro. Yesterday, after yet another chat with my GP, he prescribed Pregablin. 50mgx 3 a day. I am already taking Co Codamol & Amitriptyline. I have read many negatives

HDR Brachytherapy
I’m resting up in my UK hospital bed after going through HDR-brachytherapy (as a monotherapy) the past two days, to treat intermediate stage (G3+4) PC. I had radiation delivered in two fractions, about 18 hours apart. People can obviously read up all about this treatment option online at various sites

hi, I am 78 year old male, had Covid from Christmas Day 2022, lasted 3 weeks and was dreadful. Afterwards was taking time to fully recover, early March 2023, started experiencing pain in my right shoulder, doctor diagnosed strained rotator cuff, put onto co-codamol 30/500 for pain relief and exercise

Buscopan
Does anyone find Buscopan helpful? I've tried it, but only for a few days, so not sure if I should wait a little longer? My gp has also prescribed Co-dydramol, which works so much better than Co-codamol and Morphine. It does make me really constipated (I am anyway!) though. They all come with side effects

Awake in pain again
I’m so sick of this. Yet again I can’t sleep. I’ve been up dancing around like a lunatic with excruciating leg cramps. Both thigh muscles cramped up and woke me from a nice sleep. I’ve now been awake for over two hours and my legs hurt. I’ve had three doses of 60mg of codeine, paracetamol and my usual

Iron and B12 deficiency
Had a massive realisation after getting a diagnosis of ME and not feeling like it fit/refusing to accept it. As we all are, I'm just trying to piece together this puzzle as GPS dont seem to bother Now realise I have chronically low FERRITIN. Doctors only look at the serum iron (similar to how they
