I was diagnosed in 2012 with GFR of 16. I first became deathly ill in 2011 but wasn't diagnosed till 2012. I became deathly ill twice, both before the diagnosis. I also would become very ill the 3 times I took flu vaccines before 2011. I had CKD, frequent urinary infections, kidneys full of stones. I

Will my Dad ever come off of ventilator?
Dad, 73 yrs. old. ARDS, aspiration, on vent since 8/20. Was on dialysis for 8 weeks, but kidneys have bounced back. No sedation for 1 week. He follows with his eyes and puckers up when asked for a kiss. They say he'll be vent dependent forever. I don't agree. He has severe anxiety normally, and I'm

It's official! Update on transplant!
It's official! I'm slated to get my live-donor transplant in early December of this year! I'm very excited and nervous all at the same time. Despite only being on dialysis for 11 months, it's been quite the rollercoaster and there were a few times we had to ponder the possibility of me going back to

Pain, pain go away!
I'm in pain already from going to "school" i called the clinic where I go to for my treatment. I go to dialysis 3 times a week for 3-4 hours or so. Then I had a pneumonia shot making it even worse. I'm in so much pain both arms. Sometimes I'm thinking how long I could still hold on this challenging trials

Diagnosed as IgA
Hi I am 27 and was diagnosed as IgA with Creatinine 10.8, I haven't started dialysis but will probably start within a few months. Dr showed this community to me and I saw a lot positive stories here. I guess I have to start my own fighting journey.

Excited to have found support!
Hello...I am the mom of a 30 yr. old son in need of a kidney transplant. It is so hard to see him go thru dialysis among everything else he has had to go thru. He is strong and handling it better than I am. I know it's not about me, but would love to hear from other parents who have children or young

New to all this
Hi everyone x this is all new to me, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in May this year, I have had medication since July. I finished taking them on the 1 October. On the 10th my bloods came back as normal 👍👍👍👍 I’m so happy and can’t thank medical staff enough.... unfortunately it’s left me with Cirrhosis

The Elephant in the Noisy Room
I'm guessing that means he's going to be receiving some form of
Peritoneal
Dialysis
. I've been noticing that Joe is starting to look weak, lose weight, and seems fatigued. Every time I'm there, he asks a medical question allowed. He's a pretty quiet guy.

I’m new
I’m new here my Father just got labs back and his bun is 92 and creatin is 3.63 we’re heading to the doctors today. He’s 92 and has stage 4 kidney failure stage 4 COPD and heart failure. Do you think the doctor will recommend dialysis or hospice? I know no one here is a doctor but I’m struggling right

Salty Behavior
I have been on dialysis for over 10 years and I still crave salt. I eat small amounts of straight salt throughout the day. I have talked to doctors and they act like its no big deal. That its just a behavior that I can stop. I didn't do it before I had kidney failure. Never even had a need to add

Pre Dialysis and scared!!
Hi! I was diagnosed with Kidney Disease in 2008 and just recently progressed to End Stage Renal Disease. I am pre dialysis but I think that will be changing soon. I'm scared of what the future holds for me and I wanted to join this group to talk to other people who are going through the same things

My hypertension has been under control for about 10 yrs and I don’t have diabetes. I haven’t told anyone in my family because I don’t want my parents
