Does anyone know of a vascular surgeon who would put in a dialysis graft that could be used within 2 weeks or less?
I am looking for a facility in the West that will do an early-access dialysis graft. Hubby was procrastinating starting dialysis but became ill, went to the ER, and dialysis was started. In the month he's been hospitalized he has pulled 2 permacath ports out in his sleep. He doesn't remember doing

At home dialysis
Looking for advice regarding home dialysis. I understand their is a at home requirements check list / instructional set up. We live on an island which makes a dialysis center 3-4 times a week impractical.

The Queen has Landed
I was at a conference out of my home state this earlier this week and it hit me differently than any other flight I’ve taken. I had several emotions. Will this be my last trip before I start dialysis? What would travel be like with dialysis? And in truth. I was wondering how will I handle the loss of

Dialysis experience
I would appreciate learning the experiences of patients who are having in-center hemodialysis and those having at-home nocturnal
peritoneal
dialysis
. What are the advantages and what are the problems experienced? Any recommendations?

Hello - what do readers think about conservative management of kidney disease instead of having any form of dialysis. I ask this question because now I have been diagnosed with low gfr 17 and high creatinine 440 it looks as though some sort of dialysis is inevitable. I also suffer with chronic insomnia

Dialysis Side Effects
I'm new here. I've been on dialysis at a local clinic since mid-December 2021. I was diagnosed with Stage 5 and my GFR number is 2.6. I'll be exploring in home options at the end of this month with my Doc. My question is regarding the side effects I experience from dialysis - I leave barely able to

Is my sister being overly drugged?
My sister has been in the ICU for 35 days from a hit and run. She was induced for 3 weeks and she’s been on anxiety medication, fentanyl then methadone. My mother is concerned methadone 15mg 4x per day is a lot. She has a breathing tube in her neck and half her teeth were knocked out but she has been

Eplet matching and donation
Does anybody here have any experience or information about kidney donation and eplet matching? I am a match for my intended recipient and eligible to donate, however I am a "high eplet mismatch". The coordinator said it is not an "absolute contraindication" to donation but if we do the paired exchange

Fistula Time
I'm in the process of scheduling my fistula surgery. It brought up some emotions, none greater than sadness. I'm trying not to be too upset and be thankful that this procedure exists. I will be getting it in April in the elbow area, if that's the correct terminology for the place. I guess I felt sadness

"I Had Parkinson's" FB Group
There is a lot of bogus spam on the group. It is a public group. Don't click on the links in the group. They are BS. This is not an endorsement. I am just sharing as part of my "no stone left unturned" policy. I just heard about this FB group called "I Had Parkinson's" https://www.facebook.com/groups

Kidney hasn’t woken up. Is there still hope?
Hi, A close friend finally got the call so many have waited for and had her transplant 8 days ago. Her kidney came from a deceased donor and for the first few days we were told that it may take a little while for the kidney to ‘wake up’. However the kidney isn’t showing any signs of doing so and my

Dialysis
I was in the hospital with accute kidney failure. They dialized me 3 days into to see if my kidney function would improve. I left with a GFR 20 . So I want to know if I start filling up with toxins, can they just give dialysis every 3months so I don’t feel so sick all the time. I am 68 no diabetics.

Stressed Out
Hey yall. Just looking to vent. During my dialysis treatments I've been having severe panic attacks. After discussion with all the docs, we've decided to start using Ativan during treatments. Unfortunately I don't know why I panic. Shit, if I did I would make myself not, ya know? lol It just starts

Hello - I am really struggling with this. I got a letter from a treatment provider where I was having treatment for depression - RTMS. They have discharged me from the programme as it didn't work for me. My depression score was really high due to the stress with my renal function. She basically wrote
