Seriously questioning my doctor, need your advice!
I am at stage 4 GFR 23, Type 1 diabetic for 43 years. I had one nephrologist and was not happy with my care. I dropped him and was referred to my current doctor two years ago. My ckd was caused by immunosuppressive drugs when i had a pancreas transplant. I was told by many doctors that nothing could

THE ONE THING....If you could give up one piece of advice on CKD, Dialysis, and Transplant--what would it be?
Okay--I am going to be the first suggestion here. My one and most important tip would be to WRITE IT DOWN. Keeping an accurate log of doctor appointments, questions for your care team, and what responses they give you is a must. Not only will it give you good order in your treatment/care, this gives

Healing me softly & hardly a bit!
I call the facility "school" davita clinic for my hemodialysis. I call the staff the rn's & technicians professors & teachers as if I actually go to a night class at the university so I'll feel less scared & panicky. Just to divert my situation. I just talked to the social worker about the loss of my

I have a few more questions. A few days after being taken off sedation, Is it normal to have leaps in the consciousness level?

Acceptance!
At first I was SO hesitant to go on dialysis then I was sent to ICU because the toxins inside my body was pretty high. My creatinine was 20%, very scary. That's why I felt so heavy ! I find it so heavy putting my jacket & I can't even walk :( I'm trying to catch my breath inside the car opened the side

Zytiga & Prednisone
I have a concern with Prednisone after talking to my pharmacist about affects of combining some medications. My concern is the need for Prednisone. My pharmacist tells me that Prednisone is hard on the kidneys so my concern is ending up on dialysis in the future. But, I have two trains of thought

In need of some encouragement and insight. (waking up from coma, dealing with the trach, etc...)
Hi, My beloved mom (69 years old) has had a cardiac arrest about two weeks ago. Luckily (in a way...) she was already in hospital at the time (she's gone through a lobectomy of her upper right lung lobe, after being diagnosed with lung cancer. A relatively small tumor with likely no metastasis. Still

Gfr of 10 but feeling well - is this possible ?
Hi everyone. My son is 23 and only 4 months ago we learned he had CKD and his gfr was 20. Last week we were told it is now just 10. Aside from occasional tiredness however he is feeling totally fine. No other symptoms of kidney failure at all. Is this normal ? He wants to delay dialysis as long as possible

Dad type O- : Type 1 Diabetic
Hi All- I am writing on behalf of my father, who just turned 59 and has had type 1 diabetes since he was in his late 20's. He recently is reaching closer to having to be on Dialysis. Watching a family member suffer through the disease of Diabetes is bad enough, but when you can't help its gut wrenching
