Do dietary calcium and vitamin D matter?
Might more calcium be taken up when there is
osteopenia
or osteoporosis? Perhaps low 25-D levels can be sufficient to get calcium into the blood in those conditions, but not into bone? -Patrick https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29765146 Nat Rev Urol. 2018 May 15. doi: 10.1038/s41585-018-0015-z.

Anyone for pole dancing?!
In the Spring edition of Osteoporosis News there's an article about a 67 year old who took up pole dancing when she was diagnosed with
osteopenia
at 59 and has since managed to increase her bone density!

Downdate !
I had this done on Thursday and found that I have
Osteopenia
in my left hip, rest of me fine. They also found three degenerated discs in my lumber spine and signs of Facet joint osteoarthritis. Could this explain why I can't walk far ?

My "Osteoporosis" Journey
Two of them had successfully moved from osteoporosis range into
osteopenia
through non-medical means. One remains faithful to her regimen and continues to improve, the other has slacked off and become osteoporotic again.

Supplements for Osteopenia/Osteoporosis
I was wondering what others take when they are diagnosed with
Osteopenia
or Osteoporosis. I don't want to take the Fosamax or anything similar. I have issues with my stomach. Are there any natural supplements that have been shown to help?

Check your bone health
For example, weight bearing exercise can increase bone density if you have
osteopenia
, the precurser to osteoporosis.

Hello everyone
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in my spine and
osteopenia
in my hips 8 years ago following a skiing accident in which I broke both ankles. For the last eight years I have been taking a weekly Risedronate 35mg tablet and a daily vit D supplement.

UPDATE ON tingling in legs and arms
In the interim I was told by the Rheumy's assistant that my dexa scan showed
osteopenia
in both hips. She did not me me a number, but I will get a copy of the report at my next visit. When I told the GP, he said yes that is to be expected as I age.

Fuming!
She also strongly recommends that I take AA even though I only have
osteopenia
- another drug I have refused to take. She actually stated that she didn't think my loss of vision had anything to do with my PMR but could not offer an explanation as to what had caused it.
