"High-Fat" or "Healthy-Fat"
It's often said on HU that this approach should be called "Healthy-Fat". Though the fats we eat should be healthy, I think "Low-Carb High-Fat" is the right name. A name doesn't need to explain every tiny aspect of the plan, just enough to show what it is. Once you cut the carbs, you either go low calorie

How to safely drink fluids with Ascites
Hello, I have a dear loved one with Ascites and he asked me to post a question to others about their experiences with drinking fluids such as water, juices, electrolyte solutions, etc. Since he has to follow a low sodium diet and restrict fluid intake, can anyone share what kinds of fluids they drink

Should I be on levothyroxine yet?
I'm new here. Hello! I'm a 61 year old woman- usually fit- good BMI and do strength training. No regular meds until recently. In spring 2018 I felt tired and rundown ( I have a stressful job and it was over 2 years since my last period so I wondered if this was just post menopause - not on HRT) The

Still walking and now doing The Fast 800
Hello from locked down France. Just wanted to update you and say I am still walking. I realised today that I am building new neural pathways to overwrite the old I can't walk very far messages. We started out this morning and I felt I'd probably manage just a short walk. By the time we got back I'd

Cheese off - asparagus & cheddar quiche; kale, plum & mozzarella salad
Hi everyone and here’s my contribution the the Cheese Off: as ever, vegetarian and (fairly!) lchf. The quiche has an almond flour base ( mix 2 cups of ground almonds/almond flour with one egg; bake blind in a buttered dish for 15 mins) and the veg I used today was leeks, asparagus (lightly fried with

Depression: how I found the help I needed
As well as the care and solicitude of those who love you — even if they can’t see you during lockdown — there are medical and other professionals who can show you the route out of a condition that ranges from a persistent

Soul food: chicken and waffles
I gather this is a classic American southern/soul food dish. I have never had it, but enjoyed a keto version this evening. It was delicious. The elements were a sweet syrup made with erythritol (an ingredient I tried for the first time today), chicken "breaded" in pork scratchings, and keto waffles,

Hba1c now 43 - Prediabetic?
When I was really ill I lost 3 stone in weight in a few months as I was unable to eat or even drink a cup of tea. This was the only upside as I had tried to lose weight in the past with only moderate success. When I first started being able to eat again my taste buds had totally changed and I craved

Advice for T2D
Some follow lchf some hclf and some wfpb? With which diet can someone reverse and still enjoy all foods in moderation? Not bad eating habits but in moderation and in a sustainable form.

Neupro patch side effects?
I would have described that as being about having been very
low
in
mood
rather than thinking of it as a character change, though. But I have been noticing that I have become less sensitive / caring in recent months. I've always been easily moved by someone's plight for example but not so now.

OMAD or IF
After some advice, I have been following LCHF and doing OMAD Mon-Fri and IF at the weekend, although sometimes I still do OMAD, if I'm really busy. I am now finding that Mon morning my weight is up by 3-4 lbs, it does go down again by the weekend. This has now happened the last 3 weeks and I am not sure

LCHF ADVICE
Hi, I’m currently vegan but i’m thinking of doing a LCHF vegan diet as i eat around 150 grams of carbs a day. I’ve noticed that carbs just make me feel bloated and not great. On LCHF how many grams of carbs a day is acceptable? 20? 30? I’d find it difficult to do any lower than 30 due to my love of fruit

How can I get through to my GP?
But when I ask my GP they either have no answers or blame it on my depression/

/diet/age (I'm 24 btw). Does anyone have any advice for getting through to them and getting actual help? This can't be it, just a life of struggle.

Latest encounter with ANP and blood test results - where to now?
I would say my main symptoms are fatigue, constipation, brain fog, tinnitus, weight gain,
low
mood
and
low
temp. All worsen when I lower T4. I've been trying to improve gut function with homemade kefir and apple cider vinegar with meals, I now use HCL. As I did the burp test and nothing happened.
