Other half had SAH Aug 2020 followed by stent fitted around 10 days later after aneurysm found. Very little info from Hospital about what to expect and almost everything I’ve found our has been online. Need info about people’s recovery. He’s no paralysis, no memory issues he’s admitted to but is struggling with fatigue, motivation, low mood, dizziness vision issues and headaches. Is this normal?
Absolutely normal Broxi ; these are classic after-effects of brain injury. My SAH was in Dec 2011 and although I have no recollection of the first weeks, I was apparently in severe pain from headaches.
The headaches and fatigue are my first memory after gaining awareness along with an inability to stand and feelings of agitation. Your partner has just passed the 5 week stage so very, very early days for him right now.
Doctors won't commit to predicting an outcome owing to the uniqueness of individual cases . A positive prognosis can create false hope and a negative one may cause unnecessary worry as circumstances can change overnight.
The fact your partner is communicating is a promising starting point but, as anyone will with knowledge of brain injury will tell you, it'll be a long road to whichever level of recovery he attains. My vision and hearing were tested before discharge. If that's not the case with your man, tell the neuro team he has vision issues and ask for testing.
The dizziness is another classic symptom. It sometimes improves with time but there are medications or positional procedures which can alleviate it. Mine was helped by an ENT specialist using the Brandt-Daroff procedure.
Also, you might try phoning the Headway helpline where staff are helpful and knowledgeable and who can supply you with print-outs to clarify your partner's condition and ongoing issues. The tel.no. is 0808 800 2244 (freephone/office hours).

I just want to say how lucky you are that your other half came through this with fatigue, dizziness and headaches, mine is, 10 weeks later, still in critical care, still sleeping mostly, has a tracheotomy fitted and doesn't seem aware of anything. I wish I had my man here with fatigue and dizziness, I really wish that. I'm sure, having read things on here that things will improve over time, I too have found answers on line and here that I couldn't get from the hospital, I find the Doctors and Consultants very vague but I do understand why, they cannot give false hope. Take care and look after your man, as people keep saying to me, things will get better.
It was actually me who had the SAH m'dear not my partner. I'm grateful every day for my '2nd chance' !
I truly hope your man will rally soon and improvements will follow....
