Neupro patch side effects?

I'm wondering whether rotigotine can cause character change. (I'm not referring to the well documented changes like compulsive behaviours)

I know that when I came off ropinerole after being on it for many years, my sister said to me 'You're back!' and I could tell the difference too. I would have described that as being about having been very low in mood rather than thinking of it as a character change, though.

But I have been noticing that I have become less sensitive / caring in recent months. I've always been easily moved by someone's plight for example but not so now. And my faith has always been important to me and now it all seems pretty meaningless.

It may just be chronic tiredness and lack of spare energy. Or maybe I am just becoming old and grumpy!!!

I just wonder if anyone else has experienced similar.

I think it's to your merit that you've noticed such a change. Some people wouldn't notice and some wouldn't care.

I don't think that you can attribute any such change directly to the neupro patch.

Chronic tiredness, low energy and /or depression could contribute to the changes you've noted. They feed off each other low energy can lead to depression and depression can lead to low energy.

I guess if you feel less good about yourself then you can begin to feel less good about others or life generally.

I don't know whether this helps, but I've recently read there is a difference between depression and "existential distress", something that might occur when you're older or in hopeless circumstances.
