Levo doses and side effects
Hi everyone, I've had hypothyroidism (Hashimotos) for several years now and never felt 'well' that whole time, but at times have been able to cope and others (like now) absolutely can't. It seems to be constant and I wanted some advice/thoughts from what seems to be a very knowledgeable group who can

Allogenic Stem Cell Transplant
I [i]received a Stem cell transplant six months ago. My decision was based on the availability of a suitable donor and being able to get to remission through aggressive chemotherapy. Other treatments had no effect on my rapidly growing leukemia. As of today I’m still in remission, showing 97% chimerism

Bone marrow transplant
Hi, I am being offered a bone marrow transplant and wonder if anyone can offer me positive advice. Obviously the process is quite scary, but would like to think I'm doing the right thing. Thank you George

Fibroscan
Have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease through ultrascan, but cannot get fibroscan on NHS because blood tests are normal. Any advice please? Prepared to go private but does not seem available in Nottingham area.

Quick deterioration
4 weeks after his last admission hubby eventually agreed to go back to hospital. I'm shocked at how frail he now is, shuffling across to the bathroom. Can't get a sense of his liver health. Apparently diuretics stopped, giving him albumin, and there is some kidney damage? They then have to reinstate

Constipation ....
Sooooo, while there are some things which are considered "unmentionable", they are often the things where a chat can be very helpful. Many of us are on heavy pain medications, most of which cause constipation. Personally, I can go eight days and end up with nausea and stomach pain. Yes, I have tried

Marmite and cirrhosis
Serious question. Next to tabasco, Marmite is one of those foodstuffs that I really couldn't do without. I know the vit B12 in it is very good for your liver but I'm also aware that it's full of salt. I've been avoiding asking this question probably because I know what the answer will be but I really

Starting treatment
Hello everyone, I've been on W&W Since Jan 2020. Two weeks ago at my consultation my consultant said its time for treatment, that week I had a CT scan, blood tests and an echo heart test. My next step I assumed would be a meeting regarding my treatment, however she called today to say I need a pet

Liver pain, elevated liver enzymes and ultrasound
Hello everyone. My boyfriend has been complaining of pain under his lower right rib. Pain was not severe just on and off. He got his blood test done and results showed elevated liver enzymes. He was booked for an ultrasound. We are waiting for the results but really scared. He is 39 and healthy overall

For those who have beaten the odds and are surviving hepatocellular carcinoma.
Any pearls or tips from those who are beating the odds and surviving hepatocellular carcinoma? I was diagnosed 3 months ago and am currently on immunotherapy. I've tried not to get buried in the statistics regarding hepatocellular carcinoma. As I realize there are many who are beating the statistics

Decompensated Cirrhosis and follow up consultant appointment for husband
Hi, I’ve been lurking for a while but this is my first post. My husband was in hospital in May 2021 after a variceal bleed, he was having tests done before this as they suspected Cirrhosis, and after admission he admitted he had alcohol problems, and they treated him with banding, and he had previously

October 15th - 23 years later
Today is a special day for me...23 years ago today I had my kidney transplant! It was all because my donor, Ryan, said "yes" to organ donation. He was 16 years old and was killed in a horrible car accident. As a result, - I saw both of my daughters marry and I now have 2 buddies, my grandsons.
