Liver transplant: Hi , I am waiting for... - British Liver Trust
Liver transplant
Hi Swansilver, I had a liver transplant in Sept 2020. What exactly would you like to know? I now feel amazing, although it has been quite a long road to recovery.
Glad to hear you feel so well ,just wondering how difficult people found the recovery x
I can provide you with more information with pleasure, if you would like? I wrote a journal about my experience and am happy to send you a copy via email if this is something you would be interested in. Please remember though that everyone is different in terms of recovery etc.
That would be amazing thank you, I go for a while fully committed to transfer ,then out of the blue I panic, to talk to people like you who have been through it is brilliant xnigel.hanford@hotmail.com
Thanks again
Nigel x
Hi Chasdog, I have just been on the QE Transplant list 2 weeks now. I would be really interested to read your journal. I understand fully that everyone,s recovery phase is different and am aware that the phrase'goes smoothly' is not often the case.Is it possible I can mail you my contact details outside of this forum?
Are you on messenger?
Thank You
I had one just under 4 years ago and it was amazing . I was 70 at the time so no spring chicken but I recovered really quickly and was out of hospital just 8 days after surgery. I had to take things easy at first and did a lot of lying down and sleeping but that was to be expected. It also didn’t hurt too much either. I can fully recommend it.
Wow that is so positive, thank you so much, glad you are OK x
Much like missymoss had my transplant just over 4 years ago never had any issues post transplant, recovered really quickly and I'm now thoroughly enjoying my shot at a new life with all my family, friends and now my retirement.
Hi, my Husband is awaiting too. Just stay strong....
Hi Swansliver,I had in October 2018 (at 73 yrs) and feel great now, after a trial and error period for me to get the exact doses of antirejection meds, which can be a bit tricky. Good luck with yours! If you need any additional information, please let me know.
Hi My husband had one in 2017 after many doubts and finally agreeing. He would now say it gave him a longer life, he was back to work within 3 months. Yes there have been a few ups and downs but many more ups and he is alive and well. The staff at Kings were excellent and the after care is wonderful. Good luck with your journey xx
Can anyone tell me about the lung function test prior to the transplant? At assessment stage?
