What’s your experience with painful knees?
I have ataxia (sca 6), Sjogrens, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis. Wasn’t sure where to post this question but decided to post under Ataxia. I had a total knee replacement two and a half years ago. It is still painful to walk ( painful in a different way...very tight and always feels swollen). I have

Rheumatology appt
Thought I would update you lovely people . . . I had an urgent referral to rheumatology today after being put on 40 mgs of Pred ... going through my notes, experiences etc the doctor has come to the conclusion that I have Osteoarthritis of the spine rather than PMR - I think he's probably right given

Difficulty walking one week after knee replacement
Hi all, never posted before but in need of some reassurance and you guys always seem such a kind and supportive community. Have had RA for 25 years and taken most of the drugs and many of the biologics over that time and had my left shoulder replaced. Fairly well controlled under abatacept and finally

Hello. New to the forum but not to OA. Thought I’d say hello and add my story.
I posted this in another thread so I apologize if you have read it already. I did not pay attention to the length of time since the last comment so that post is buried toward the bottom. I enjoy research so I hope to add some articles or links to help all of us in our daily and sometimes hourly battle

I'm new here - question on the Couch to 5K programme - is it for me?
Hi, I used to jog a lot but stopped about 10 years ago I guess. I'm 75, reasonably fit but I had two partial knee replacements some time ago. Would this programme - or running in general - be advisable for me? I walk about 2-3K per day but in my head I'm thinking that runnung/jogging is a not a good

Aches all over
I seem to ache all over, especially at night. I can hardly walk even using a frame. My back aches from one hip across to the other. My back hurts either side of my spine between my shoulders. I think it is muscular as it is worse when I move, although it hurts just lying in bed. I inject methotrexate

Ouch
I’m recovering from a total knee replacement and my fibromyalgia is off the charts. I can’t seem to get ahead of the pain. But I’m hoping this is all for the greater good.

New to this
Hi, this is my first post. Currently at hospital with my sister who is having knee replacement surgery. She'll be coming back to my apartment afterwards. Kinda nervous about that. We get along great but my apartment is small and I have a new puppy so it may be a bit of a mad house. But I'd do anything

Help!
Hi all, a wee bit of history, I’ve had RA for almost 5 years. I had a knee replacement a year ago and everything was going well until recently. I’ve been getting a lot of pain in my neck, wrists and upper arms. It’s much worse at night and is interrupting my sleep. I saw a dr last week and had a steroid

I am a bit confused
Good day, everybody! I wonder if anyone knows how to differentiate pain from an all injury and pmr. I had a flare up during a knee surgery and end upwith Prednisone after, I believe, two years or so. This time is taking four month and one shoulder/arm is giving me lots of pain in my more useful side

Don’t know what to do next to feel human again!
Hi . I’m new to the group. I think I’ve had an under active thyroid for some time, as looking back I had all the signs and symptoms. But because I have suffered from chronic pain after back surgery and 2 full knee replacements I was told I was depressed(yes!) or it was my pain meds. I’ve had a terrible

Adrenal Insufficiency
My regular GP (who acted immediately when I presented myself with GCA symptoms) talked with me yesterday. She thought my symptoms indicated an urinary infection. Today a urine sample came back negative. I said I thought they indicated adrenal insufficiency. She will phone me on Monday. I am 83 year

Apixaban, oestrogen and knee op.
Has anyone else had this issue. I have had AF with flutter for about 14 years, we rub along together and I lead a good life. I went in yesterday for a pre op assessment for a knee replacement in two weeks time. When the nurse saw that I was on HRT, oestrogen, alarm bells rang. Now I know I have to stop

Pain relief
Hi I have come across a pain reliever that has helped a great deal with my RA. I thought it might help anyone going through a tough time. I used it prior to my knee replacement and it worked wonders for me. It is not in replace of your usual medication but may help anyone struggling. I have nothing to

Surviving RLS when on bedrest
I’m struggling so badly with RLS at the same time as experiencing knee arthritis flare up awaiting knee replacement. It’s maddening to be told to elevate your leg and ice it when you can’t lay still for just a few minutes. And that standing up is only relief and it’s too painful to stand. My neurologist
