Hello,
A bit of history. 1998 had a R ankle replacement which has never been very successful. Since that time have had a L ankle fusion, R hip replacement, L knee replacement plus R mastectomy for breast cancer, also developed Rituximab induced Hypogammaglobulinaemia. So for 20+ years have been in and out of a wheelchair due to immobility. Also developed osteopenia 2006, treated with AA, have recently had a second stress fracture of my R fibula which they suspect is due to biomechanical influences but are doing bloods to exclude vitamin D deficiency and parathyroid disease.
Suspect I may need further surgery on my R ankle to correct my gait to prevent further damage and 6 years ago consulted an ankle surgeon specialist for advice. At that time I was experiencing numerous infections which was later found to be due to the Hypogammaglobulinaemia. Now I have treatment with immunoglobulins to treat this condition. Know the surgery will involve fusion of the previous replacement and external fixation. Anyone gone through this procedure? Your input would be most valuable to me.
I am now 69 and have had RD for over 40 years but am still keen to maintain as much mobility as possible. Any experiences would be most valuable.
Thanks Pam
