Prazosin - Trial of One (Me)
To my surprise my urologist readily prescribed Prazosin to replace Tamsulosin, after reading the retrospective study that Bruce SF supplied me with and I forwarded to my Doc with my request to change drugs. As a trader I always look at risk and reward, this one seems to be a no-brainer, very little

Finally got the Diagnosis!
Hello everyone. I am around here for 2 months now. I must say, it has been a horrible 2 months. Lots of nightmares, unnecessary operations... But today here I am again, writing to you from Copenhagen. I actually moved despite every negative development regarding my disease. I would like to start with

Prazosin - Game Changer?
BruceSF sent me this message and it looks like a game changer for those trying to prevent recurrence, to me: I’ve been taking Prazosin for 4 years since my radiation therapy, it is a drug that helps urinary flow (same family - alpha blocker - as Flomax) and lowers blood pressure and still have an

Hypoxic brain injury
Hi there I suffered hypoxic brain injury in 2019 following 2 cardiac arrests due to unknowingly
kidney
failure
as a result of Vascilitis, auto immune disease I didn't know I had. This has left me with mobility issues, poor concentration and some short term memory issues.

Microvascular decompression
Microvascular decompression gladly took away my pain of Trigeminal neuralgia. I may have to do it again in six months, but we’ll see.

Surprise with obinutuzumab + venetoclax treatment
In addition, maybe because of CLL, I developed
kidney
failure
. In 2020, the decision was made to start treatment with obinutuzumab + venetoclax due to: very large spleen; wbc - 175; hgb - 10.5.

Time for Dialysis?
My current kidney function is at 17% and I recently got added to a transplant list. My nephrologist is telling me that it's up to me when I start dialysis. I'm trying to figure out when is the right time to start. I definitely feel fatigued most of the time, but I just push through it. Some days it hits

Lupus and renal involvement
I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2020 and am being treated by rheumatology and gastroenterology for 'mild' lupus characterised by joint pain, oral ulcers, fatigue etc etc. However, I have recently begun to think that in fact I may be in the early stages of renal involvement. My urine is frequently frothy

Kidney transplant medication side effects
Hi Everyone... hope you are all off to a great summer. I've been going through testing to see if I can be put on the kidney transplant list. They do SO many tests! Whew! My gfr fluctuates between 11-13 and has gone to this number fairly quickly. After meeting with the pharmacy side of a transplant

What do my results mean
I recently got labs done and noticed my EGFR went down from 72 to 59 in just 9 months. 4 years ago I did get rhabdomyolysis which did affect my kidneys which got them to 60 egfr than slowly went up to 72 but now the sudden drop is scary. I have had Protein in the urine for a couple years it shown 2+

Help with test results
Hello is there anyone in the uk (or anywhere) tell me what a creatinine level of 244 mol/L means - I cannot interpret it - also a serum urea level of 16.1 mmol/L means. I know they are both above limit but even if I could convert to the American system I would find it easier. Also the uti hasn't gone

I had multiple pre transplant day long meetings to decide the best option for me having a third transplant and it was decided my fiance would donate and we would do paired exchange as a live donor and planned transplant would be for the best

Stopping Prednisone
I had my kidney transplant 2-1/2 years ago and my lab tests are consistently good. I'm taking everolimus, mycophenolic acid and prednisone. The prednisone is causing weight gain, diabetes and, possibly, hair loss. I tapered down to 5 mg of prednisone over two years ago. I'm now wondering whether I can
