Kidney stones from drinking too little water… and other well-meant mistakes.
I have surgery next week to remove a big kidney stone. We had to delay because I had a serious UTI that needed to be taken care of first. They placed a stent (a coil that holds the stone and that expands to make space) around the stone to allow liquid to go around the stone until they can laser and remove

This paper is behind a paywall, so I'll get it elsewhere. But it shows the benefits of giving T3 to patients after heart failure. This is just the abstract

March - National Kidney Month
Some 30 years later, I was diagnosed with
kidney
failure
with a condition called Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis or commonly called FSGC - all related back to my case of strep. Over time, FSGS can cause
kidney
failure
and in my case led to needing a
kidney
transplant.

Kidney stones & Thyroid conditions
Hi all Does anyone know of the above link if there is one? I’ve read a few articles but quite old ones, which suggest a possible link? I was admitted last week overnight after having pain. CT scan showed a stone in the duct of the kidney and two stones in other kidney. Both ureters inflamed and backed

Please have blood tests if taking medication - Pentasa.
My GP prescribed me Pentasa for my Ulcerative Colitis. I took this for approx 10 years. My GP never requested any blood tests in this time. This medication was slowly killing off my kidney function. In 2017 I was admitted to hospital with a 9% kidney function. I stopped Pentasa and my kidneys improved

Hello, I am new to the community, 71-year-old female with stage 4 COPD and CKD, GFR 22. How does dialysis affect COPD? I am confused about the GFR numbers and the need for dialysis. My doctor keeps saying at GFR of 15 you need to go on dialysis. But here I see people with numbers as low 8, 6, 0r 2 just

VATS/ thoracic surgery experiences?
Hi everyone, just coming up to my fifth surgery for endometriosis and it will be on the underside of the diaphragm plus the usual pelvic places, both of which I’ve had before so know what to expect (ish!). I’ll also be having thoracic exploration (VATS) for the first time, I have been warned this is

Gallbladder issues
I was just curious to see how many members had issues with their gallbladder? I know of two friends who have had kidney transplants and they both had their gallbladder removed previously. I myself had my gallbladder removed the same year I was diagnosed with kidney disease. I suffered with gallbladder

PTH high after third infusion, can't find a competent endocrinologist to consult
Online search for PTH shows some pretty dire consequences (liver
failure
,
kidney
decease, surgical removal of the parathyroid gland) and little available in terms of treatment. Has anybody had this problem before? What did you do? What was the outcome?

Hi is it normal to be switched from “acute kidney damage” to “renal failure” even when kidneys still function & lab work from clinic is good
Still urinating normal amount, nothing odd about it. Went over a week without dialysis when my chest catheter malfunctioned and had no ill side effects Labs seem to always be “good” news or at least that my numbers are within the clinic’s liking.
