ovarian remnant syndrome

Hi i’m wondering if anyone here has experienced anything similar to myself as i feel very alone and confused m!

I have had a ct colonography and mri scan of which both reports state i have a large complex cyst that is attached to my left ovary but when the both reports from two different hospitals were sent to my consultant he denies this because 10 months ago i had surgery to remove both my ovaries and 10cm endometrioma!

The consultant says a slither of ovarian tissue must of been left behind during my last surgery 10 months ago and the new complex cyst i have now isn’t on my ovary he seems to think it’s attached to a slither of ovarian tissue and he states both my mri and ct reports are incorrect!

All of this is causing me distress and anxiety not knowing who or what to believe do i believe the two reports or do i believe the consultant?

I now need further surgery to rectify this ovarian remnant and to remove the large complex cyst which they think could 1 of two cysts another endometrioma or a haemorrhagic cyst i’m on the urgent surgery list but have been told the wait is 6-8 months which is very weird to me because if the cyst needs to be removed due to risk of it bursting and this story about the slither of tissue is true that’s the surgeons error why am i being made to wait so long and how can i find out what is in fact the truth is my left ovary still there like both reports state it is or are the reports incorrect and is the consultant correct

The scans don't lie but your doctor could. Where are you based ? There are a few dodgy surgeons around. But it would be a pretty stupid thing to lie about. If one scan said this maybe a mistake but two? If I were you I would get an appt with a diffenet gynae and show him/her the scans and reports for a second opinion.

Hello! Usually scans are true. You can do your scans again in a couple of months. Sometimes it helps to clarify the situation. I was operated on my right ovary, an endometrioma, and have a remnant of my ovary. And sometimes I have functional cysts there which disappear in a couple of months. I can feel them but I calmed down about them. In case you have something like this it is better to wait with the operation and let them disappear on their own.
