Hi is it normal to be switched from “acute kidney damage” to “renal failure” even when kidneys still function & lab work from clinic is good

Still urinating normal amount, nothing odd about it.

Went over a week without dialysis when my chest catheter malfunctioned and had no ill side effects

Labs seem to always be “good” news or at least that my numbers are within the clinic’s liking.

It depends on the eGFR level. Some people with Chronic Kidney Disease could have an acute episode when they are sick and lead to Stage 5 of Kidney Disease (eGFR <15) which require dialysis if symptoms persist.

Some could bounce back after the acute episode and have many more years before require dialysis again.
