Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Statins
[1] Statins are arguably the easiest prescription drug to get hold of in the U.S. IMO they are heavily over-prescribed, based on a simplistic out-of-date view of cholesterol & its role in CVD. On the other hand, as someone with PCa, I'm a big fan of statins. I have mentioned before that: i) cholesterol

Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Metformin
There are well over three thousand PubMed hits for <cancer metformin>, so I suppose there might be something to the rumor that Metformin has anti-cancer properties. LOL. Bottom line: For someone with PCa, I feel that study [6a] trumps all others. Which is why I increased my daily Metformin dose to

I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NUN!!!!
I am very confused. I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes eleven months ago. Since then, I have heard a lot of conflicting advice. Lots of carbs vs. no carbs at all. Plenty of exercise vs. lots and lots of green tea ( to lose weight) & minimal exercise. Now, i just read a man was saying : no fruits

Live Longer On The Cheap
Dr. Snuffy Myers says Metformin makes PCa less aggressive over time. NAD+ supplements like Niagen are being promoted for life extension at $40 a bottle and good chance it is total BS. New research shows Metformin holds promise as a life extension drug by mimicking caloric restriction as well as preventing

Metformin and recurrent PCa
I have read Snuffy Myers videos about Metformin and the limited evidence he cites as well as others support its use for non-diabetic PCa patients. However, since the clinical evidence is not conclusive, I have had some problems in getting a prescription either from a PPP or even 2 prostate cancer oncologists

Hey, I started Menopur yesterday after 2 weeks of buserelin but with 38 follicles they're concerned that I may develop OSHH so have put me on Metformin too. Has anyone been on this? I've heard the side effects are nasty so just wanted some stories good/bad? Thank you xx

I am not diabetic - yet!
I am not diabetic yet - but I am high risk and need to do something to reduce my risks. I am overweight (not obese but a couple of stone too heavy and have a heart condition). My husband is T2 diabetic and he is underweight and always has been. Apparently 1 in 10 diabetics are not overweight. He

Tired.
I have been diabetic for 8 years. Was on many medications, Metformin, Glipizide, and others. ALL have made me tired and sleepy all day. I do much better without them and just watching what I eat. I hear Poppy seeds are good, any comments?

Stopping the pain.
I'm going to write today to shine the spotlight on the nutrient that should be of most concern to you as a diabetic. If it isn't, or is something you don't give a lot of thought to I hope at least it will when you finish reading. There are only three macronutrients - protein, fat and carbohydrate. Every

In Praise of Metformin
I prefer not to go the medication route for glycemic control because it seems I can manage without it for now. I however wouldn't let that stop me from expressing my admiration for what has now come to be the gold standard in managing type II (yes i am aware of the side effects). Metformin continues

Time To failure
I think the guys who have had success with Lupron therapy remaining effective for years are worth examining...what is the common denominator...so far I have talked to 53 long term Lupron survivors and the following protocol keeps coming up as a common denominator.....Lupron, Avodart, Metformin, Arimidex

Metformin / Glucophage & Lupus
Hello! I was thinking a long time ago when I was diagnosed with lupus, that the culprit had to be something I was taking or using, for example, Splenda or others similar so I stopped using it, but I did not think that could be the Metformin or Glucophage. Has anyone noticed any alteration of lupus
