Not all diabetics are the same. What works for one person may not always work for the other person.😀
Reducing carbs do work for everybody except those who have family hypercholesterolaemia.
The food taste good and it is therefore easy to stick to low carb diets.
I personally do about 30 gr per day including fiber. New research suggest that fiber also should be treated as carbs because some of them are digested. See Dr Westman diabetes diet for diabetics on youtube.
Hi michellesuch1971 ,
Welcome to the group. Please check out the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation for the free leaflets on "Exercise and Diabetes " and "A Healthy Diet and Diabetes ". You can download, read and listen to the leaflets. Go to: drwf.org.uk/diabetes-leaflets
I hope this helps.
When is the next appointment for the Endocrinologist to see you?
That's right.
Hello,
I'm for the first time on this site. I am 62 years old, I have type 2 diabetes and I am under treatment since 2012 : 30 mg Diaprel (Gliclazide) in the morning and 2 x 500 mg Glucophage (metformin) in the evening. My problems are:
- my fasting glucose is pretty high (135 - 155); post-prandial glucose is OK (under 140).
- I am under treatment for hypercholesterolemia and high blood pressure.
- I have 112 kgs (190 cm height) and it's very difficult to lose kgs.
I agree and like the idea of low carb diet but I have the problem with the fat and cholesterol (in particular triglycerides ).
It is very very ... true what "Activity2004" said. Every person is particular. But, in the same time, everyone's history is useful for all of us.
So, I am waiting for as many advises and histories.
A good day for everybody !
