Private fibroscan?
Hi. I posted last week, the surgeon performing my laprascopic gallbladder surgery has seen fibrotic changes in my liver about 4 weeks ago. My most recent LFT'S (in April) were largely normal, bilirubin raised slightly (consistently for years) alongside slightly low platelets and slightly raised mean

PVE and liver resection
Hello, I'm due to have a PVE then liver resection in a few weeks. Has anyone got any practical tips please? Surgeon just says carry on as normal but he's not had the procedure himself! Would be grateful for any advice on diet, exercise issues to expect afterwards. Thanks ladies xx

Coronary calcium channel score
Is statin prescribing linked to Coronary Calcium score? In late 60's my recent Angiogram was fine but had a CCS score of 25. From what I've read, Statins do not eliminate existing plaque, but stop it getting worse. Always ate healthy, since a child being faddy, cut off every bit fat from meat, wouldn'teat

Advice please?
Hi all. I just wanted to see if anybody has experienced the same as me. I am a 28 year old male. I used to drink very heavily for around 6-7 years. I drank vodka with lemonade and could get through a couple of litres a week following my dad's death (not an excuse but it is the reason I drank so much

Can LFT tests me normal with fibrosis of the liver?
Hi,I had my gallbladder removed a few weeks ago as I had gallstones which were seen on ultrasound after I'd had pain/pressure/a full feeling under my right ribs. During the op, the surgeon has seen what he has described as "excessive fibrotic changes in the liver". My GP has referred me to Hepatology

Vitamin D Result
Hi, I’ve been supplementing with 4,000 iu Vit D and here’s my latest result. I take co factors of Vit K2-MK7 and magnesium. I have 2 queries I hope you can help me: 1) Is 127nmol/l sufficient (I have hypothyroidism and I have a poor conversion) 2) Should I be adding Vit A? I’ve read that Vit D

Manganese levels
hi everyone so I’ve come on here to pick peoples brains because I am completely at a loss of what to do. I was recently seen by my consultant and he said everything is going really well, and my bloods are normal so even though I have cirrhosis my liver is working. I’ve been referred to a neurologist

knocked sideways
Ive been reading all your posts but not actually written anything for a while because in my stupid head I thought we were plodding along even if it was at a plateau level. Kev was diagnosed with non alcoholic liver cirrhosis back in July. He also had sepsis twice and ended up in intensive care where

Hi everyone. I havent posted for a few weeks . my partner Nick has now had all his tests, scans and a biopsy on his hhc tumor to confirm that it is actually HCC. He has been told that he cannot have ablation, which is what he wanted to have, because of the position of the tumor. He may possibly be

Problems with medication supplies
Hi. Since I recently swapped to home deliveries for medication, every 4 weeks some meds are missing or out of stock.I didn't have this problem when I ordered directly from the GP, changed over because I was struggling to get into town to collect my prescriptions. The messages from Lloyds Pharmacy says

tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and weight gain
I was contacted today by a liver nurse. I found out that I have been prescribed tenofovir. I started reading about it. I saw online that it is associated not only with kidney problems, and bone density problems, but also a weight gain and body shape changes!!! What are other peoples experiences?! Have

Blood flow through liver
Hello all I had a ultrasound just over a month ago but got results today showing a fatty liver and slow or low blood through my liver the nurse practitioner giving me my results could give me no reason as to why as by all accounts scarring wasn't seen only fat deposits. My liver enzymes have been rising

PSA in lower range, yet PSMA PET SCAN shows diffuse bone Metastasis
Dear all , my father latest Total PSA level shows 6.24 which is down after touching 10.45. He was given one infusion of Docetaxel, however, he has been weaned off due to adverse reactions he has had, as his overall condition worsened and he had lot of prolonged mouth sores, with WBCs touching .08 and

Is HE always inevitable with severe chronic liver disease?
My daughter has been told there is nothing more the doctors can do for her multiple hepatic adenomas. Transplant is not an option, due to serious underlying health conditions and also total lack of fitness . She has at least 15 of these tumours taking over her liver now. She has had a resection last

Alcohol related cirrhosis and drinking
I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in September 2023 after a fibroscan. I am considered compensated due to my lab work and no ascites or symptoms. I am an alcoholic and made the stupid mistake of drinking a glass of red wine at a Christmas party last week. Of course now I am hating myself and absolutely
