How to encourage someone to seek medical support (who has turned their back on this due to prior negative experience with consultant)
Hi, I'm hoping that someone can point me in the direction of a positive source of support for someone who has turned their back on formal medical support because on a negative experience with consultant. They were hospitalised with liver failure back in 2011 and formally diagnosed with cirrhosis. There

Ultrasound of liver....sit upright for last part of scan
As the title says in for my yearly US of liver. Usually i go for the scan and lay on my back and both sides while scan is done. This time, at the end, i was asked to sit upright off the side of the bed while my sonographer scanned the liver area, while i sat there. Does anyone know the reason for scanning

Hello I am really confused and scared at the moment. I am 31 and have been overweight/obese my whole life. A few months ago I had a blood test and my doctor noticed that my liver enzymes had been elevating since the last time I had a blood test. I had more blood tests and an ultrasound scan and was

Hi there, I am currently off sick with Pancreatitis and liver problems although I am still undergoing tests. I am wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to rarer causes of raised ALTs. I've looked up what I can on the internet but none of the current listed causes fit in with my specific situation and

SIBO and Elevated Liver Enzymes
I have had gastro issues the last two months after using a proton pump inhibitor in May and was finally diagnosed with SIBO on Monday. My GI started me on Rifaximin and Neomycin last night. She did a liver function panel test before I started on the antibiotics and the AST was 52 and the ALT was 73.

Help with payment's
Hi, thanks for letting me join your group, I have a query, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C back in December last year, but we've found I contracted it back in 1979 when I was given contaminated blood after a transfusion. I have received stage 1 payments but think it should be back dated to April 2016

'Healthy' supplements are causing a rise in liver injuries - what to avoid
(I have taken this information from a Daily Express article – This is for information only) ACCORDING to new research, cases of severe liver injury linked to products claiming to promote muscle growth or weight loss are rising, with some severe cases leading to patients requiring liver transplants.

Fibroscan
Hi, just wondering if anyone has had normal bloods and ultrasound but then an abnormal fibroscan (I'm going to request one). I made some mistakes in my original post - my platelets are actually high at 407, and my AST/ALT wasn't inverted - it's currently ALT 23, AST 17, GGT 16 (GGT was 24 in April).

How much trouble am I in?
Hello all, First time posting, fairly certain I know the answer, but want to pool the wealth of knowledge you all have. I was diagnosed with NAFLD a few years ago and like an idiot I mostly ignored it based on the response from my Docs stating it’s simple fatty liver just diet and exercise and you

Ast/alt ratio
Got a question about Ast alt ratio. There is a lot of confusion on the internet saying that if ast/alt ratio is over 1-2 even with normal ast and alt values you have liver damage. My question is does ratio even matter if Ast and alt are normal?

Ast/alt ratio
There is to much confusion here on this site about ast/alt ratio. Some say ratio does not matter if both ast and alt are normal. Some say even if both normal ratio matters which is it I say stop answering unless you really know because I talked to someone today that said they asked there specialist

Cirrosis
Hi everyone. After a short illness last year I had lots of blood tests and was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. This came as a massive shock but worse was to follow when I was told that as a result of the virus I had developed cirrhosis! I have now been treated successfully for the virus but obviously nothing

Cirrhosis and itching
Hello, This symptom of itching because of cirrhosis is really annoying. I am taking a powder form of Colestyramine once a day, as per prescription, but sometimes I take 2 when it kicks off again, and I also use E45 cream for relief. Can anyone help with any alternative for itching. Lucky I have no
