Hello, I'm due to have a PVE then liver resection in a few weeks. Has anyone got any practical tips please? Surgeon just says carry on as normal but he's not had the procedure himself! Would be grateful for any advice on diet, exercise issues to expect afterwards. Thanks ladies xx

I had a liver resection nearly two years ago. I was pretty fit beforehand. The surgeon advised me to do upper body strength work and to get as fit as possible in the weeks leading up to the op. I walked lots, stopped drinking alcohol, dranks loads of water, and ate extremely healthily. I was warned that recovery would take time and so I prepped everything so that when I came out, I could focus on resting and taking it easy, which turned out to be a really good strategy for me.

The liver is a highly vascular organ. It it was me, I would stockpile my own blood with surgical facility you are using. Otherwise, you have already gotten some great advice from Lenzie.
