Worried and advice appreciated
My aunty has been submitted to hospital with Jaundice and pale stalls and very orange urine, yet no pain. Mri has shown no gall stones neither has Endoscopy. It seems like Liver failure but i donn't remember seeing her drink much at all. She is active and certainly not overweight and eats well. The

Advice about generic medication
Hi, just asking some advice about generic cholestyramine Mylan vs Questran. I tried Mylan end of last year and seemed to have lots of bloating tried 2 sachets as opposed to 1 to try to make things better. Things did not seem to improve and I was having to take Gaviscon every night and not sleeping

The liver is course in texture and is slightly increased in echogenicity with is consistent with mild fatty infiltration. But my diagnosis is cirrhosis. Interesting. No significant change. Last one was heterogeneous

Alcohol and non alcohol related liver disease
Hi, another question. My consultant said my cirrhosis is due to alcohol. I was a very occasional drinker until recently. I started having a glass of wine with my meal at weekends or when dining with friends. This led to a glass every evening with my meal, then half a bottle each time. Eventually I ended

Muscle wasting and other symptoms but normal test results
Hello everyone, I was an alcoholic for over ten years until April 2021 when quit because I was getting abdominal pain and leg jerks at night. After quitting for a few months they went away but then I relapsed five months ago. Since then I have had muscle wasting in my legs, testicular atrophy, weight

The end of the road for my brother
last week I sat holding my 57 year old brother’s hand whilst he passed away from a complication due to alcoholic liver disease. I cared for him for 3 years and it was very hard. Just wanted to say thanks as this site has been useful when I was doing research re transplants.

Hi I have early stage Cirrhosis and need to lose some weight. Quite a lot actually. I'm considering the Keto diet. Does anybody know if this is okay for someone with alcohol related cirrhosis. Thanks for any help you can offer

Liver Biopsy
Hi all, I was finally able to se a liver specialist outside my region. Unfortunately it didn't go well. She made it quite clear that she wasn't thrilled seeing someone out of her region (i'm in Gatineau, Quebec and the liver specialist is in Montreal, Quebec so about a 3 hour drive). Without getting

Relative with cirrhosis

Liver inflammation
Hi. Quit drinking 2 weeks ago. Was heavy abuser. Fatigue is gone but have right shoulder discomfort/mild pain and occasional right abdomen and mid-back discomfort. Other than sleep issues no other noticeable symptoms right now. Afraid of cirrhosis and cancer. Going to see a doctor in 2 weeks. My question

Diabetes and liver damage
Hi again sorry for the barrage of questions. Alongside thinking I have cirrhosis I have also recently been diagnosed with diabetes. My question is - will I find it much harder to bring my diabetes under control if I have a damaged liver?

Follow up on my liver cancer HCC
Hi all, I have been on the craziest rollercoaster ride since January 2022. Had resection May 28, 2021. My cancer came back 8 months after surgery. Was referred to have a liver transplant evaluation. My case looked very promising to get a liver. Had to do a lot of prep including testing and interviews

10 weeks post op liver cyst deroofing/resection
I am 10 weeks out today from robotic liver resection 10%m gallbladder removal (lesion pressing on it killed it) and deroofing of an 8 cm cyst (formerly a hemangioma that turned cystic after 2 ablations). I have made some progress but still feel rather badly; still have pain/discomfort on right side,

Transplant assessment at the Royal Free
My partner is due to go for 2 day transplant assessment at the RF at the start of Aug. Cirrhosis due to alcohol - detoxed and remained alcohol free at first presentation of symptoms over 6 months now, engaging with external support and alcohol nurse. He has had a lot of tests done at our local liver
