tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and weight gain

I was contacted today by a liver nurse. I found out that I have been prescribed tenofovir. I started reading about it. I saw online that it is associated not only with kidney problems, and bone density problems, but also a weight gain and body shape changes!!! What are other peoples experiences?! Have you gained weight or noticed some body shape changes? This has made me really depressed... As situation was not bad enough 😭

I've been on Tenofovir for a number of years (take it with Lamivudine). I've had no issues with it at all. Not experienced weight gain (although I take a diabetic tablet that suppresses appetite).

I've been on it for 16 months now, with no noticeable side affects . I'm currently on phosphate supplement, but that was an ongoing issue before I started taking the Tenofovir. They should be monitoring you every 3 months for the first year. If your viral load is currently high then the benefits of the medication are better than the possible side affects.
