On the keto diet? Ditch the cheat day. Just one dose of carbohydrates can damage blood vessels
Reading some impressive posts on here lately about the keto diet, I was thinking about giving it a try. I came across this article and wonder what the more knowledgable HU members think. Thank you https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/03/190327112657.htm Date: March 27, 2019 Source: University

Home made gluten free shortbread biscuits with ground almonds 🌞
Hi everyone, These are one of my favourite biscuits made with ground almonds and plain GF flour which includes buckwheat flour. I used organic butter free range eggs and unrefined sugar with ground almonds to top so they are still much healthier than many shop bought biscuits and a treat for those

Diabetes 2 and Prednisolone
Hi, I have familial diabetes. When I started taking Pred for PR my hbac1 went extremely high. However I was put on a very large dose, this was last December. Despite not giving in to the awful hunger pangs my weight started to increase and I had fluid retention. I have been following a low carb diet,

"Ketosis seems to stabilise cancer" Dr. Gary Fettke
This is an interesting video... the first 25 minutes are a bit technical... but the message is that (refined) carbohydrates, poly-unsaturates and fructose "might cause" cancer and ketosis, (Intermittent) Fasting, LCHF seems to stabilise or prevent it. Maise is a major source of fructose in the US. I

I was diagnosed with Hashis when I was around 15. When I turned 23, a blood test came back with these results (I was eating gluten): IMMUNOGLOBULIN A: 0.58 g/L (0.70-4.00) Gliadin Antibodies (IgG): 0.3 U/ml (Negative: <7 / Equivocal 7-10 / Positive >10) Gliadin Antibodies (IgA): 0.0 U/ml (Negative

Based on this research, soybean oil is OUT
I've noticed soybean oil in most prepared salad dressings and mayonnaise. Normally, these are ok on a low carb diet. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6164134/ I spent 2 hours learning about the hazards of omega 6 highly processed seed/vegetable oils. I will provide the link in the next post.

Carb cycling?
I've never actually attempted this, but I do wonder if humans were designed to go through a low-to-high (or at at least low-to-moderate) carb cycle with the seasons. It would certainly be a more accurate ecological match with what's naturally available (in most climates at least). Does anybody here do

IBS - Seems to have gone away since cutting out carbs and sugars....
I was just looking at this webpage, and wanted to share it: High FODMAP foods list: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/fodmaps-101#high-fodmap-foods But realized the best place to post it would be on the IBS forums, and then I thought momentarily about the fact that I have had zero IBS issues, since

Why LDL cholesterol goes up on LCHF diet and is it bad for health?
Following LCHF diets raises HDL level, lowers triglyceride, lowers insulin and increases LDL cholesterol. While first three are considered beneficial, there is concern about high level of LDL cholesterol. The presentation below by Dr Nadir Ali, concludes we should celebrate high LDL level because it

Are low carb diets any good?
Low-carb diets could reduce diabetes, heart disease and stroke risk even if people DON'T lose weight by cutting down on bread, potatoes and pasta https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-7162631/Low-carb-diets-reduce-diabetes-heart-disease-stroke-risk-people-DONT-lose-weight.html

Low carb advise please
I have been ttc for 16 months, I know compared its not long but after 14 months I went to see the GP and after several blood tests, they have now said I have mild Pcos. The Dr said I need to change my diet to a low carb and low sugar diet, due to my hormone levels being abnormal and insulin being a factor

Success thus far!
So far I have found that the way I am eating and fasting right now has been the easiest way for me to lose weight so far. Easiest in my entire life! NHS weight loss
So been following LCHF but now just read the NHS 12 week weight loss plan and very confused, it's almost the polar opposite of what I been doing , so which one is it , all I want to do is follow something simple and lose weight, I can do it just getting exasperated with which one to follow. How do
