Shingles Vaccine
My Rheumatologist has recommended that I get a shingles vaccination before starting biologics. Anyone else under 50 and received vaccine? Any adverse events? I’ve read mixed reviews since no studies have been conducted on safety of vaccine in patients with autoimmune disease. I am getting it tomorrow

Impetigo
Hi everyone, I am still on Pred for PMR and should be meeting someone tomorrow who has been diagnosed with Impetigo. Would it be advisable to give them a wide berth. Thank you, Jenny x

Viral Meningitis 72 year old father
My dad fell unresponsive over 2 weeks ago. Once in the hospital they determined he had viral meningitis. Lots of antibiotics and 2 weeks later he is extremely weak, won’t eat, and he is confused and agitated. He struggles to know who we are (my mom, brother, grandkids, etc) and has little to no

Does a Malar Rash, muscle pain & tiredness make Lupus???
Hi, I have a rash - a VERY itchy, painful, raw, stinging, burning rash. I've got it above my right eye (inner side) under it and - without any visible signs - on my cheekbones and under my chin and on my collar bone. I am concerned that though this rash FEELS like Rosacea it is actually Lupus. And although

Tendonitis
I’d like to plug a question into the collective experience bank about tendons. So, started on 60mg in March 2017 for GCA and now on 1.5mg as of 2 weeks ago. Previously at 54 I was very fit and active. Around the 20’s my muscles vanished and I was affected from top to bottom with a high susceptibility

No need for ADT yet??
Fully expected to go on Lupron today but CT scan came back negative. This coupled with slow doubling time and negative bone scan has my MO thinking that we can hold off on ADT until doubling time speeds up keeping a very close watch on PSA... While I am only TOO happy to avoid ADT for as long as I

Is anyone taking NSAIDs with their Taxols? It seems that research indicates that the effectiveness of Taxols may be extended.
Research indicates that where Paclitaxel (one of the taxols) loses effectiveness, or we become resistant to it by building up certain proteins in our system that fight the effect of Paclitaxel, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, licofelone and others that in turn fight these these

Shingles with your CTD anyone?
Hi all, It's been ages since I've been able to post. Life seemed to get hit with a bomb. Things are still not right yet, but I'm finding ways to pull focus back from only the terrible. But the second you start to get the balance (or think you do), another hit happens. This time -- Shingles! I was

Shingles vaccination. Is this a good idea when you have hypothyroidism?
My husband has just been invited by the surgery to have a shingles vaccination and in a fortnight's time I will become eligible for the same vaccination. I have never thought of shingles as being that serious or even all that common but apparently one in three people will get it after the age of 50 and

Hi everyone, do you know if it is safe to get a tetanus vaccine when having APS? Will it effect my INR? I am on both warfarin and Clopidogrel. Thanks and have a wonderful summer 😊

Squirrel scratches? Chances of Rabies or Tetanus
Anyone bitten by a squirrel or mistakenly scratched by one in the UK? Out in Hyde Park on Sunday and very brave Squirrel ran up my leg when my back was turned. I do not interact with wildlife at all so as soon as that happened I screamed and it jumped off straight. The jump was very light and didn't
