For a newspaper, quite a long and involved article about Lyme.

"When doctors are faced with a problem they cannot solve, it is human nature to sweep it under the rug, to argue it away, to say that the problem does not exist,” says Lewis. “Because doctors have a simple choice, to tell the patient we have no treatment for your condition or to say you don’t have any condition. "

Many members here have experienced this attitude. How can we possibly respect medics who think it's better to blame the patient than to be honest? What is the matter with them that they put their own ego above the needs of the people they supposedly went into the profession to help! :x

Thank you Helvella for bringing another article about Lyme Disease to our attention.

It's not only doctors in this country who like to sweep the evidence that is staring them in the face under the carpet. Lyme Disease, as thousands of sufferers in this country have discovered for themselves, is a massive and growing chronic illness in this country, yet diagnoses of thyroid illness, fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, heart disease, and countless other conditions (or none at all) are all that individual patients can expect since NHS testing for chronic Lyme Disease is unreliable. It should always be remembered that Lyme Disease is the Great Imitator.

Unfortunately, despite doctors and information groups (including this one) for those conditions mentioned above having been given information about the possibilities of Lyme Disease and its related co-infections being the possible root cause of many patients' chronic ill health, they have shown little or no interest in passing on this information to the public.

It's very sad, especially since we see more and more lives destroyed and untimely deaths caused by Lyme Disease which can be dealt with if caught early.

I think many of us on this forum have known for many years that if we are ill there have to be reasons and we should NEVER stop looking for reasons.

Let me once again direct you to the excellent and award winning charity LDUK which will send individuals, schools, groups etc. a superb free information pack full of tips on tick safety and removal, Lyme testing, diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment. lymediseaseuk.com/
