Numbers aren't everything in the land of CKD
Had my first appointment with a nephrologist today, thought I would post a followup because of the interest on this forum in GFR numbers. Though my GFR is still 50, even after increasing hydration , the doctor considers me stable, and actually not dehydrated. I have what he considers very mild kidney

NSAID alternatives
Hi, the last few days bones in both my wrists started aching badly without any reason. I didn`t think too much into it but the next day both my big toes really ached as well and I was in pain all night. My old Doctor said I had Arthritis in my left toe quite a few years ago and my Podiadrist said

CBD oil for pain?
hi folks. Anyone use CBD oil for pain? Now that I cannot take NSAIDs I have a huge rise in anti inflamm pain. I have tried codeine with no impact. Also not wanting opioids. Not sure what to try next but someone mentioned CBD Oil. Any help would be hugely appreciated. My go to meds are paracetamol

Steroids v Rituximab - any advice/opinions?
so I’ve not been on here for a very long time while I’ve been going round the houses with different consultants. I’m now in the position where I’m getting bad flares and high ANA but a bit of a question mark over whether it’s lupus or multiple autoimmune issues causing it. MCAS is strongly suspected

Change of medication
Hi everyone how are you all? Hope you’re well. Apologies for not being on the site for a while, work has been super busy. Just wanted to ask a quick question please. Has anyone ever changed medication and if so how did you feel? I’ve been on 25mg of Methotrexate for years but sadly it’s no longer

Gout w CKD3
I’m posting for my mom, she has CKD3 and I do as well. She’s had gout in her feet for about two years now. Last bout was so bad :-( She’s 75, in otherwise decent health. Two rounds of dex steroid paks, then some serious prednisone amounts (about 2 weeks, tapered down). Her dr wanted her to go up on Allopurinol

Rituximab and tetanus (etc.)
This is to all my fellow immune suppressed folks about rituximab. I've been unable to find solid information, and my consultants aren't sure, so wondered if anyone here knows. Does rituximab impact our tetanus jabs and similar? I was up to date on all my boosters, but got bit by a tick on Saturday (think

NSAIDs
Hi everyone, hope you are having a good day. After my angioplasty I was put on Clopidogrel and I have read that you cannot take NSAIDs with them as it increases bleeding risks. I suffer with condrochronitis(inflammation of the chest wall) and I am having a flare up. This flare up has been going on for

NSAIDS anyone ?
When I was diagnosed with RA in 1989 , along with other medication , I was given diclofenac as a NSAID . This was later changed to Meloxicam by my rheumatologist . Which I took daily until this year . Fast forward to May 2021 and I tripped on a step in the house and fell heavily onto my left hip

2 year old won’t wake post BM
Sunday I brought my 2 year old into the emergency room due to vomiting and fever. We were sent home. I returned two hours later with an unresponsive limp child. Long story short she has sepsis as a result of bacterial meningitis. She’s now on Day 3 or 4. They are treating the meningitis (and have been

Cold and sore throat
Hi guys, I have been on benepali for 5 weeks and I think it's working, I still have to take some codiene and naproxen but not as much as before. I caught a cold from my granddaughter last Thursday with a sore throat, sneezing and now developed a cough every now and then. Do you know if I can carry on

Lyme Disease can cause AF & much more!
Hi Guys, just a short timely message to check for tics if you have been outside in long grass or heathland. LD can trigger an irregular heart beat. The following is the best I've read in a while https://heartmdinstitute.com/health-and-wellness/lyme-disease-symptoms-prevention-treatment/

oral NSAIDs vs topical NSAIDs
I always wondered if topical NSAIDs were gentler on the body than oral NSAIDs. This is an interesting article: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/life/advice/2020/10/28/keith-roach-topical-nsaids-worth-trying/114504778/

Crohn’s Diagnosis ?
I was wondering if anyone who has been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease could help me. I developed a fistula in July’s of 2021. I have no family history of IBD disease. When I realized most people who get fistulas also have IBD I started having severe stomach pain 24-7 I couldn’t eat for months. I did

It's not working.
At the third attempt to reduce Prednisolone down the Osteoradionecrosis in my Right jaw has flared up causing intense pain, sleeplessness and inability to eat. The great Vision of my various professionals is for me to reduce to 5mg and then commence Hydrocortisone 5mg morne/10mg nocte as apparently Hydrocortisone

Painrelief
Hello just a share point. Suffering with pain due to gallstones, as I am allergic to NSAIDs and opiates like most mastos, pain relief has been poor. Consultant has prescribed Nefopam 30mg. No reactions and at last pain is bearable. Better than fentanyl as not as strong. Also is it common for mastos to

Finger nails going white
Hello - I wonder if anyone has had an issue with their nails? My finger nails have started going white where the bed is and kind of goes down my nail. I am not sure if the nail is lifting up off the nail bed but it might be. I have the same issue with my toe nails - the chiropodist said it was fungal
