Co-Beneldopa/Madopar
About two months back I started my dad on a low dose of mucuna, but saw no improvement so about a month and a half he went onto co-beneldopa (madopar) In that time, he hasn't really improved. Still bent, head down, shuffles, lack of energy, says his muscles ache still, still hand and jaw tremour. The

Alpha Synuclein: New Species is discovered called Pa-syn - could it be the cause of cell death in PD?
OK, Here's my (simplistic) take away: 1. PD is caused by lack of dopamine. In PD brain autopsies, we often see Lewy bodies. 2. Lewy bodies are at least largely made up of protein, but a misfolded protein, called alpha synuclein (ASN). Because it is misfolded, it does not transfer signals between neurons

What my emotions did to me last night.
Last night things went bad with my grandson. It is 17 and struggling with his identity. He has been wearing makeup among a few other things that his mom does not agree with. She at first just ask him to wait till he was out on his own to start doing the things she does not approve of. He has refused

Update on Hinz Protocol
Hi, just wanted to wrap back around to let you all know about my mom's experience with the Hinz protocol, or amino acid therapy. My mom had to discontinue it because every time they tried to increase levels she had vomiting. Ultimately, she lost ten pounds, and it didn't appear that the magical balance

What Every PWP Needs To Know About Probiotics For Their Symptoms and Quality of Life
There are many potential reasons why probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics may be useful for PWPs. Although the great majority of PD / probiotic studies involve animals, there are many human studies that show benefits that would definitely be useful for PWPs! In this first study, it is shown that probiotics

Pramipexole 0.250mg as %100 RLS symptoms fix
Hi, To those that havent got to try the pramipexole I higly recommend with no side effects after using a year - using a small tablet 0.250 mg pramipexole after dinner. It never fails me. If I dont take it its a miserable night. So as in any pharmacutical drugs, its not a cure only make you not notice

Thyroid Ultrasound for Hashimotos?
Hi. My TPOab over the years have been in range, last year was 18 (<35). TGab also in range. I am getting an ultrasound done this week to check for nodules. Is an ultrasound more sensitive than antibody markets for detecting Hashimotos? I really hope it will get me some much needed answers. Long story

Hallucinations: "It's the Dopamine, Stupid!"
For some months, we have been unpleasantly aware of a certain TV ad claiming that a large percentage of PwP are prone to hallucinate. The disease is a big enough monkey on our backs, do we need an added social stigma like this? Well, if you thought those hallucinations are just a sign of brain disease

FAQ - What are the differences between Fibromyalgia & ME?
Hi Everyone! :) It is difficult for people living with Fibro and/or M.E as the symptoms for the two conditions can be synonymous and therefore appear to be the same condition. However research seems to have found different findings for Fibromalgia that to date have not been found in ME.

Did anyone start treatment taking a dopamine agonist?
I was diagnosed in March with PD at age 48, and at that time my doctor prescribed Rasagiline. I have noticed no symptom improvements after 10 weeks taking it, but in fairness the doctor said only some patients will notice any minor symptom relief. He also mentioned that some think it provides a neuroprotective

Dopamine responsive dystonia
I was diagnosed with drd in 1988 and have done well since then on co beneldopa, but I'm starting to have a few symptoms now which make me wonder if it's coming back. Has anyone else had similar long term treatment, how are you getting on? I've never met anyone with the same diagnosis, so would be very

DNA Testing
I did a DNA test for my PD dad back in February (around the time he had worsening dementia) and got the results back recently. There's a section on neurotransmitters, ie dopamine, norepinephrine etc and shows he has risks with Parkinsons. Not sure how accurate these tests are, obviously no idea what

Under pressure, my doctor put me on a Dopamine Agonist (Neupro patch) 2mg/24h. I had a great night for the first time in 3 years but was awfully nauseous the next day and had to go back to bed and slept until 2:30p and also slept at night even though I didn't put on the patch. My question is that I

Acetylcholine Deficiency plays a big role in why people with ADHD have multiple troubling symptoms/tendencies.
As if lacking Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepinephrine, GABA etc. was not enough? As some of you on here have read and noticed, I am a strong supporter and user of helpful supplements to combat the negative side effects that come come with taking continued ADHD stimulant medication. I take a low dose stimulant

Growth Factor appears to be what we should all be learning about. Why?
Dr Google says the following: Growth factors are naturally occurring regulatory molecules, which bind to receptors on the cell surface. They stimulate cell and tissue function through influencing cell differentiation by changing their biochemical activity and cellular growth, and regulating their rate

Fatigue/lack of energy
Dear folks, When I look at the MSA symptons, I don't see fatigue or lack of energy mentioned. I would like to do more things in a day but I have so little energy and get tired so easily. I try to do a little bit of exercise and can still walk a few steps, but it doesn't improve my energy. Does anyone

Topiramate and the unlucky few
My experience on topamax last month was dreadful. I started the drug in January to help with migraines and within a day after taking it l, I started noticing I was getting extremely paranoid. Like, coworkers are trying to get me fired & wife is plotting stuff against me type of paranoid. It’s so strange
