Pholcodine DA?
Does anyone know if the cough syrup Pholcodine Linctus is a Dopamine agonist? Reason I ask is that I have had two solid weeks of perfect sleep since my body has taken well to Gabapentin. But I have a chest infection at present and the night time cough drives me crazy so I've been taking Pholcodine Linctus

Finding help after ADHD diagnosis post menopause
I am a 67 yr old female who has had a rough 16 years since menopause, with still no resolution for the correct meds for me. I was put on antidepressants at the start of menopause at 51, then wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until 61 - after 10 years of utter brain fog and apathy (and lost 4 jobs in a row).

New Research Sheds Light on Parkinson’s
Here's more theory including GABA as the problem. It doesn't say GABA in one's diet is a problem or suggest any solution, i.e. it doesn't suggest how to stop the astrocytes:

Serotonin vs. Dopamine
How is serotonin involved in RLS? Or is it? Manerva wrote a very interesting post on dopamine. I was wondering if serotonin plays a part?

Levodopa-Induced Euphoria and Addictions in Parkinson’s. It's of concern for people with neuropsychiatric fluctuations between ON and OFF.
I'm referencing a 2017 research article. Some people have more significant neuropsychiatric fluctuations between ON and OFF levodopa drug treatment states. These people seem to be more at risk for triggered addictive behavior and drug abuse. The conclusion of the abstract is "The psychostimulant effects

Interesting thought Dr!
Hi all. I hope that this post finds you all as well as can be expected😊. I don’t write too much these days, not because I’m too bad or anything but I just don’t have as many thoughts as I used to have about the disease. I exercised, juiced, fasted, red light hatted and I still have it unfortunately!

8 Year Anniversary 😀
Jan 19 marked the occasion of quitting cigarettes for 8 years. The day passed, and it didn't even register that it was my anniversary since I rarely think of cigarettes any more. Sometimes, if I do think of cigarettes, exercise will take away any wish to smoke: I guess it's the dopamine hit of exercise

Caution with drugs
Just a caution to everyone. My husband was recently in the hospital with rapid atrial fibrillation. They used two drugs on him that apparently should not be used for Parkinson’s one was a calcium channel blocker the other was amiodarone commonly used for heart arrhythmia these drugs block dopamine

iPSC modeling of young-onset Parkinson’s disease reveals a molecular signature of disease and novel therapeutic candidates
Young-onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD), defined by onset at <50 years, accounts for approximately 10% of all Parkinson’s disease cases and, while some cases are associated with known genetic mutations, most are not. Here induced pluripotent stem cells were generated from control individuals and from

Circadian Rhythms
I'm currently on holiday in a sunny country. I dreaded coming because of my insomnia and rls and the thought of pacing up and down all night in a strange room filled me with dread and I almost cancelled at the last minute but my daughter insisted I go. For the first two I only slept by taking zopiclone

Possible causes of Ataxia
🙂 This is a ‘long read’ and may be difficult to interpret, but never the less it’s interesting. What processes can cause ataxia? The pathophysiology of cerebellar ataxias is as diverse as the various neurological and systemic diseases affecting the cerebellum. Broadly classifying ataxias into genetic

I’m confused. I’ve been clinically diagnosed with Parkinson’s with a DatScan performed in Dec. 2018. 4 months prior to my DatScan raised my antidepressant to max levels from the lowest level I had been taking for about 6 years prior. My symptoms got worse overnight. Looking back, my symptoms started

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been discussed on this forum before, but I still find it intriguing. I watched a news story today regarding a former National Football League player (Packers great Dave Robinson) who underwent hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat brain damage from concussions. Apparently
