Choline can exacerbate your dystonia - Be aware
My personal experience: Have you noticed that some foods such as Eggs, liver, peanuts, meat, poultry, fish, dairy foods, pasta, rice, and egg-based dishes can exacerbate your dystonia. These foods are rich sources of Choline that converts to Acetylcholine in the brain. There should be a balance between

Not CBD after all
My husband was diagnosed initially with CBD but now the doctors are leaning more towards Lewy-body dementia. Person’s with CBD do not usually respond to treatment. In February we started hubby on Carbadopa-levodopa (Dopamine drug) and he responded very well. He has his gait back! Walks almost normal

My RLS happens only when I fall asleep, any ideas?
My legs jump and jolt ONLY when I doze off, at night. The actually falling asleep triggers it. Otherwise my legs are fine. Does that mean that my RLS is relatively mild, or...? Also curious as to why the dozing off is the trigger. Dopamine a factor? Thanks for any insights :)

A question about pain in legs.
I've just read the post from jimandgil about pain in the groin and legs and didn't want to hijack his post so will start from scratch. I have been having severe pain in my legs very much like one would describe if one had the flu. I have had similar before and it's been a side effect of some medications

MMS DMSO for treatment of Parkinson's
My father has been diagnosed with Parkinson's in september 2017. He is 74 years old and took Madopar (Levodopa/carbidopa) for 6 month. Before the diagnose we saw that he might have Parkinson because he walked slowly with small steps(around10cm and close to the ground( around 10cm) -in contrast with

Dystonia and Parkinson's disease: What is the relationship?
Dystonia and Parkinson's disease are closely linked disorders sharing many pathophysiological overlaps. Dystonia can be seen in 30% or more of the patients suffering with PD and sometimes can precede the overt parkinsonism. The response of early dystonia to the introduction of dopamine replacement therapy

Evidence of the need for patient investigation Part 1 of 2
This post has more than one part because of its length. I am an advocate of people being given the tools to do their own research on the health disability they live with. I am not sure what all these tools are. I am still working on the problem. There is a need for the person with the health disability

Has anyone tried Wellbutrin / bupropion and has it helped?
I have OCD, but cannot take SSRIs. Even SNRIs probably won't be good as I have thrombocytopenia and am pretty sure it has the same mechanism on certain aspects so could cause bleeding for me (which SSRIs did). I am not on anything now, but still sometimes think it would help whilst I am learning all

Quit Smoking!
I quit smoking!😊 This is my second day nicotine free. I have had 10 quits this year (the longest for 2 months.) All of them cold turkey, as is this one. I felt so amazing during all those times. So pure, so athletic, so calm...I felt like my life was heading 100% towards healing and true success.

Watchdog sues FDA for dragging its feet on Parkinson's drug warnings
Moving the FDA's gears can be a lengthy process, particularly when it comes to citizen petitions. But after waiting two and a half years for regulators to stiffen impulse-control warnings on dopamine-driving Parkinson's drugs, one watchdog group ran out of patience. Public Citizen sued the agency Monday

Stress and anxiety in Parkinson's - my 2 pennies worth
In response to a spam post about stress causing Parkinson's I started this answer which became too long winded as a response. I don't think stress causes Parkinson's as claimed (in fact I think it's a nonsense idea) but definitely stress causes problems in Parkinson's. Alongside the fact that stress

Could ADHD drugs ultimately harm children’s brains?
My 17 year old daughter has ADHD Inattentive. She took Strattera for nearly 2 years but it lost effectiveness. She just tried Vyvanse again (which she briefly tried age 13 but stopped due to anxiety). So age 17 she tried Vyvanse 20mg, 30mg and 40 mg. None worked at all. I started reading how ADHD drugs

DL‑3‑n‑butylphthalide therapy for Parkinson's disease: A randomized controlled trial
Currently available treatments for Parkinson's disease (PD) do not delay or prevent disease development and progression. DL‑3‑n‑butylphthalide (NBP), isolated from Apium graveolens seeds, alleviates oxidative damage and mitochondrial dysfunction. It has been revealed to reduce the loss of dopamine neurons

Focused Ultrasound in Switzerland
I have decided to see if I can have focused ultrasound at Sonimodul clinic in Switzerland. The neurologist there has the most experienced and 2 friends have had excellent results. I’ve collated lots of information for anyone who’s interested. https://sonimodul.ch https://www.frontiersin.org/articles
