Advice needed please. My ferritin levels are low and my G.P. has advised me to take a daily multivitamin. I am in my seventies and have Graves Disease. My main problem is that I have an esophageal stricture which means I cannot swallow anything large. All the multivitamins I look at are huge. I tried

NHS not working in Devon
Really fed up with the NHS right now. First they tell me my BP is slightly high so put me on tablets second they tell me I have raised blood sugar by 1 point so at risk of type 2 diabetes. Since April I haven't been able to exercise due to back and leg pain. I have been referred to our local hospital

LCHF guide for newbies
While we often point people in the direction of DietDoctor, a lot of newbies have asked over the years "Where's the diet plan?". After months of procrastination (and throwing a whole bunch of waffle into the Recycle Bin) I've put together a short document which I think does the job. It's modelled on

Gestational Diabetes help
I have just been told I am on the cusp of having gestational diabetes so I am having to monitor it over the next few days. What are other people's experience of this? Did many of you have to have insulin injections? Or did you take metformin?

Metastatic breast cancer patients - what's your diet? Do you have any examples of actual recipes to make?
I've read a LOT on the best type of diets - I have my mom (diagnosed in the fall of 2018, bone-only mets) on a plant-based diet, no dairy, no gluten, and low carb. We're having difficulty actually finding recipes and new things to make, so wanted to know if any of you could point me towards some resources

Keeping crackers fresh
Hi all, I'm new here. Had a heart attack in April and consequently decided to reduce my weight (14st7lbs, BMI 30). I went from not eating much, to low carb (but consuming oats like I was told to), to LCHF without grains about 10 days ago. I'm down to 12st, BMI 25, plan to drop another stone or so. My

Hypothyroidism & Diabetes
Hi, I just wanted to know if there is a relationship between hypothyroidism and diabetes? I have been taking levothyroxine for the last almost 4 years to treat hypo. Now my test results for FBS & HGA1C came 137mg/dl (range 115-126mg/dl) and 6.3% (pre-diabetis 5.7-6.4%) . My doctor told me that I am per-diabetes

Inflammation in the Liver Reversed by Metformin
Metformin is the First line drug for Type 2 Diabetes. It is in use for the last more than 50 years and there is hardly any adverse side effects if taken in recommended dosage. While a lot of research is still on to find out the exact mechanism of working , in the process science keeps finding out many

Choice...
hi all, can I get your take on people 6 who choose a gluten free diet... Personally I can't see the attraction.. i wish I didn't have to have a gluten free diet. I'm guessing that they just cut out bread and pasta etc... but it's so much more.. there's so much food that I can't have... things you wouldn't
