Jerky movements during sleep
He has 2 seizures and was put on
Depakine
(300mg/ day). I usually put him to sleep and I noticed that he has jerky movements. It happens during the first 10 minutes of his sleep - is this a sign of a seizure? have anyone of you or your kids experienced this?

Fatigue/lack of energy
Dear folks, When I look at the MSA symptons, I don't see fatigue or lack of energy mentioned. I would like to do more things in a day but I have so little energy and get tired so easily. I try to do a little bit of exercise and can still walk a few steps, but it doesn't improve my energy. Does anyone

My experience on topamax last month was dreadful. I started the drug in January to help with migraines and within a day after taking it l, I started noticing I was getting extremely paranoid. Like, coworkers are trying to get me fired & wife is plotting stuff against me type of paranoid. It’s so strange

I am looking to hear from anyone who has been using the velvet bean as a source of naturally occurring source of dopamine. I was on Sinemet for about 4 years and developed dyskinesia and had to consider other options. After trying a few other medications that also came with almost immediate side effects

Sleep study
Hi all! I just wanted to encourage anyone who has severe issues in the morning to get a sleep study done even if you don’t have sleepiness during the day. I live in North Dakota and have pretty limited access to good neurologists or movement disorder specialists. I’ve only been diagnosed for a year and

Pain Poll Results
Hi folks. Thank you for your great responses. It's horrid to see that many are suffering pain on top of everything else. It must be distressing for both cared for and the carers.
Please keep replying to it if you haven't yet done so - I am still gathering info.

Lab Results: Amphetamines Skewing Results?
I will be following up with the Endocrinologist tomorrow, it will be our second meeting. In our first meeting he was unsure if I have a thyroid problems but suspected adult growth hormone deficiency. I shared an article on how GH deficiency can mask subclinical/mild Central hypothyroidism and was hoping

There is a treatment
Watching programme on tv about restless legs. Difficult to watch so much suffering. My neurologist is a specialist in sleep disturbances and treats my restless legs with iron tablets. The brain of people with restless legs seems to need more iron which works as a co-enzyme on the dopamine system. The

Augmentation drug study
I see in the latest Nightwalker that a study is being undertaken by William Ondo MD at Houston Methodist Neurological Institute (Texas) evaluating the possibile role of the drug ecopipam in reversing dopamine agonist augmentation. They are looking for participants who are: Available for 6 or 7 visits

5-HTP in patients not taking Sinemet can worsen symptoms of PD
According to The Clinician's Handbook of Natural Medicine 5-Hydroxy-l-tryptophan (5-HTP) is beneficial only if used in combination with the drug Sinemet (a combination of l-dopa and decarboxylase inhibitor carbidopa). Brain serotonin is decreased in PD, but reduction in dopamine receptors is more severe

Sleeping
Hi dear people, I understand from previous posts some of you get clonazepam for sleeping, in what dosage? I was taking Zyprexa and slept well but when my neurologist found out I was put on Zyprexa by my GP she had fit. She said it affects the dopamine receptors and is a No for MSA patients... I wish

MRI with low dose radiation?
This is what my dad was invited to have after a neurology consult. He has many Parkinson's symptoms but doc not sure if it is vasculitic Parkinson's in which case the drugs won't work. Anyone had this done. He said it would show how much dopamine was available (or something like that). We were given

Restless arms
I'm on carbidopa levodopa 50 12.5. Rasagiline 1mg. I've been taking 200mg daily tramadol for back pain but tried leaving it out because of constipation. Developed severe akathesia of my arms at night. I suppose it serves me right for taking tramadol. Maybe if I stick it out I'll recover. But its also
