Hi dear people, I understand from previous posts some of you get clonazepam for sleeping, in what dosage? I was taking Zyprexa and slept well but when my neurologist found out I was put on Zyprexa by my GP she had fit. She said it affects the dopamine receptors and is a No for MSA patients...
I wish everybody a good easterweekend!

Hello Gerdy. Jackie takes Clonazepam 500 microgram - 1 tablet just before she goes to bed. It helps considerably with night terrors and has the 'side effect' of also helping Jax to sleep.
Best Easter weekend wishes to everyone as well. Take care, Ian
So you’re MSA and not PD? My understanding with MSA was that dopa receptors have gone anyway which is why MSA people respond poorly to Levadopa. I take amytripylatine to sleep if this is of any help to you😔
Hi, in tests carried out on persons with MSA 5 or so years ago they were found to be low in Serotonin. Serotonin is the hormone that helps make melotonin, the actual hormone that makes you sleep.
About 4 years ago I started to give my wife the Supplement called "5-htp" that you can get from health food shops, it is a plant based serotonin Supplement, although we get it off ebay at around £6 for 90 capsules.
They have been very affective at helping her to sleep without any drugs. She takes 1 x100mg capsule about 1/2 hour before bed time and only compliments/supplements the natural hormones that should be there anyway.
They help with sleep and depression/ anxeity, generally low mood problems as well.
My husband takes 1 1/2 clonazepam when he goes to bed. It has transformed his sleeping (And mine). He has been taking it for about 18 months now and the sleep clinic upped his dose from 1 to 1 1/2 a while ago. He is now getting increasingly agitated around 4:00 am, so possibly needs more, but it is a very helpful medication.
Hello Amanda. Like you (see my first post) OUR nights sleep has been transformed by Jackie taking Clonazepam. The interesting thing is some nights she still has night terrors at about 4:30/5am, and on others she 'sleeps' through to a more respectable hour. Either way Jax is completely unaware of her 'terrors'. I wonder if anyone has any ideas why this occurs just on some nights?
Having said that, nights are so much better for me not being beaten up from 2am onwards!
However it has a half life of about 30 - 40 hours.
That means that after that time about half of the Clonazepam dose is still in the system.
My wife was taking it for sleep and found even after giving her body to habituate to it (one month) she was quite drowsy the next day. We halved the tablets and she got on great with it.
Some people are more sensitive to it that others. So this might not be for you.
