A theory, perhaps a warning
the short version: Excessive intake of dopamine enhancing supplements may knock serotonin out of balance resulting in a severe episode of depression. The longer version: Here's what happened to me and my guess as to why/how - I was anticipating a need for a little extra help with my Parkinsons symptoms

Adhd+depression +anxiety, advices please!
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I've been struggling with depression and anxiety for 4 and half years now. On different meds, ssri, snri, wellbutrin, Lamictal. No desired response. I was looking for answers and I found out that I might have ADHD also. So I told my psychiatrist but she said no!

The Loss of Friendships post Parkinsons Diagnosis
(I did not write this but have the same experiences.) There was a pivotal, yet somewhat inevitable crossroads juncture that I encountered in my Parkinson’s "journey." The culling of my social connections. The enormity of the juggernaut diagnosis that I encountered led to a rude awakening and forced

Oral Molecule PD13R Safely Eases Dyskinesia Tied to Levodopa in Primate Model
A newly discovered oral molecule, called PD13R, significantly lessened levodopa-induced dyskinesia, its involuntary and jerky movements, while maintaining the therapy’s benefits in a non-human primate model of Parkinson’s disease. How do you fight game addiction?
I'm in my second year of university - I have a lot of assignments. I created a routine or system that I can manage my tasks, my daily stuff that needs to be done. In the first days, I follow that system so well. But in the following days, I often got stressed or something that causes me anxiety and I

Online relationship (please don't judge)
Hi. This is really uncomfortable to talk about but it's eating me alive. It's really killing me. I can't do anything. I even started fainting. I talked to my therapist but she was silent. I take my meds. Okay so i better finally spill it. This year has been a nightmare for me. My whole life was a nightmare

Vitamin B1 and B3 question
Hi, I am seeing all the posts about Vitamin B1 and Niacin. I currently take a dopamine agonist mirapexin and a MAOI Selegeline low dose plus vitamin E, CoenzymQ as prescribed by my neurologist. I also recently started taking vitamin D. Could someone advise how much B1 and B3 to try and what time of day

Desire to view disturbing images
Hi community, I have a strange habit I've never divulged to anyone. Trigger Warning: mention of suicide and graphic material For reasons I do not understand, when I am feeling understimulated, I search for graphic and disturbing images and videos. These include car accidents, suicide, shootings

Does Levodopa cause your brain to produce less of "its own" dopamine?
Does anyone know if there is research on this topic? Does taking C/L actually discourage the brain from producing its own dopamine because it's being fed dopamine from an external source? I just wondered if this question had ever been explored because the human body is lazy. For example, if you

Ecopipam and Dr. Ondo.
Can anyone spot the flaw in his reasoning? See last 6 paragraphs after his name in center. As far as I can tell Ecopipam’s closest cousin is cannabis, but that’s neither here nor there New Study Will Test Treatment for Augmentation The RLS Foundation Research Grant Program has awarded $37,000 to William

Ellfindoe and LotteM please ....
Thank you to Ellfindoe for being patient and explaining so well. I hope you don’t mind, but I have taken what you have said and put it in my own words to try to ensure that I understand what you have said. Here goes ….. The latest model of RLS is that there is a series of factors which lead to RLS

Increasing Dopamine receptor density?
Found randomly on the net : "There is a very powerful way to upregulate your dopamine receptor density, among other things, and it involves abstaining from sexual behaviours of any kind. Particularly self-pleasure and pornography watching. Fasting is another way. Any prolonged reduction of dopamine release

Parkinson's is not all in your head: Frozen Shoulder
I saw this picture the other day while researching frozen shoulder. It really hit me that PD is always described as problems being caused by dopamine cells dying in your brain and the subsequent lack of dopamine affecting your body. If you look at this picture and see the difference between the normal

Clarification needed please Ellfindoe, Joolsg and others
I still struggle with the fact that RLS absolutely responds to Ropinirole, which is a dopamine-receptor agonist, but then we are told no to that, and are advised to take Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant medication. Stupid question but is that telling me that lack of dopamine causes the nerves

Anyone used Vitex (Agnus castus/chasteberry) and did it help or aggravate RLS?
Having heavy n prolonged periods so was researching solutions. Came across Vitex (to balance out hormones) but no idea if it's safe for RLS because when I googled Vitex RLS I read something about it affecting dopamine receptors? Has anyone used this for their periods or any other issue, or can advise

Supplementing Dopamine
If a person has symptoms of a dopamine deficit at any time throughout the day, is there any way to boost or supplement it without rx meds? I have adhd and rls. I don’t take stimulant meds because of age and hx of cardiac issues. I take gabapentin 600 mg at bedtime for rls. Occasionally I have to take
